C30 Pwr Xfmr

    Picked up an older Peavey C30. It needs a power xfmr. I'm just curious about what the xfmr is worth.
    I bought the amp for $100 so I don't mind putting a few bucks into it.

    ya.. I did PT and OT to one.Not sure about choke.
    Actually my amp tech did back in the day.
    sounded loads better. Used 8ohm out in back too
    to internal speaker.
    I think he used Classic tone brand..but Hammond gets
    a lot of love too.

    The Peavey classic 30 has a different tube heater system than most amps. To keep things original the replacement PT must be correct for that system. A quick search shows $58 which seems reasonable.

    You could choose to modify the heater circuit to be like most other amps. A transformer would be more costly than the $58 and if you do not do your own work the bench time would not make sense for your pocketbook. So, there is good reason to keep it stock.
