Buying 0.023" saw blade for fret slotting from McMaster-Carr and shipping it to Canada

I want to buy a saw blade with 0.023" kerf for fret slotting and I found these inexpensive options (compared to StewMac's one) from Mcmaster-Carr. My table saw and miter saw both have 5/8" arbor so should I go with the 2-3/4"saw blade with 1" arbor hole and buy arbor reducer busing from 1" to 5/8"?

Do you know if McMaster-Carr ship to Canada, and if they do does it have to be a B2B transaction or would they ship to a person?

I wouldn't bother. I tried slitting saws years ago on my table saw, using tall stabilizing washers for support. ...It didn't work out. Maybe the first couple slots worked, then the blade got hot and warped and burned as it went through.

The stewmac blades are rim ground and have some set to them, which slitting saws do not seem to have.

Spring for a real saw and not a work around on this.

There are several folks on the forum who use the power saw fret slotting blades, but as far as I know, they all use the blade setups designed for fret slotting, rather than the cheap slitting blades.

The price looks attractive, but those small diameter slitting blades from McMaster Carr with 70 or 100 very tiny teeth just aren't designed for fret slotting.




The cost of either a purpose designed circular blade for a power-saw, or a decent store-bought miter box and fret saw are roughly the same since the price on the miter boxes has dropped down to around $100 bucks now.

If you are slotting Fender-type one-piece necks that don't have a separate fret board, the store-bought miter boxes can be adapted so you can fit a neck blank into them (and still be able to slot fret boards) for about $10 bucks worth of aluminum flat-bar stock .

Works great.

Plus, I don’t even know how you would raise the blade high enough to use a 2 3/4” diameter blade

Listen to Marty and George. We’ve all had the same idea at one point or another, and it just doesn’t work.
