I love butter beans. Have trouble finding good canned ones though...

They're great from a can for me. I'll chow 'em cold as well, like anything tinned. Slob? Moi? :p

I made my first homemade cornbread in decades two days ago. Came out awesome - already all eaten up. I like mine with a smear of cream cheese and some marmalade or preserves.

Man, that's fine dining.....toss some diced ham in there with those beans, too.

Man that sounds good. I usually throw in some sausage chunks too.

I look for them frozen, this time of year.

They prefer warm weather, compared to other pea and bean crops.

They're just not the same, in canned form. But I'd take canned limas, butter beans or Great Northerns over something like field peas, crowders or black eyed peas -even fresh ones. I once liked them but now they taste like dirt.

No chunks of meat, please. I used duck or chicken fat, or gravy from a roasted turkey, extended with butter and spices. I know the renderings from bacon are just about perfect, but I try my best to leave that out unless most of it will be consumed by full on red meat eaters.

Gotta go frozen or straight from the field on these.

I used to live on this stuff when I was touring the continent on my motorcycle. A few minutes on a Gaz stove was a great way to end a day's riding. Plus the empty can was big enough to piddle in to save a night-time walk to the camping toilet block. :D

I like the Butterbeans, Lima's and the Speckled Butterbeans, but they just don't taste right from a can.

My wife covers them with Mayo, so I guess it doesn't matter much to her. She does the same with Potatoes too.

I don't normally eat meat anymore... Bacon works great, beans by themselves cooked in water is good too....

Bacon or Lil' Smokies, Lima's, Purple Hull Peas, Corn and a couple cans of Rotel with some Cornbread on the side is the way to go.

I'm too cheap to buy Rotel, I just buy store brand canned tomatoes and fresh jalapenos and process in my Ninja....

My grandma used to feed them to me when I was a boy and I hated them. Now I like them cuz they remind me of grandma. :)

Cornbread with diced jalapeno pepper, cheddar cheese and whole kernel corn is awesome, I mean like NOS tubes.

Guess I'm odd man here, but I like ketchup on mine. Butterbeans, ketchup, a little ham, and definitely cornbread......it don't get any better than that! ;)

You know what, I just tried some of my home made smokey ketchup in pinto beans the other day, it was good...

Are butter beans the same as lima beans.
I remember my moms split-pea soup.
    Thick as molasses.
