Busted out of my normal gig scene and saw me some K.Flay last night

I'm normally a blues/rock/Americana type of guy but I heard this particular song about 6 months ago and it absolutely hooked me in.. dragged my 54yo self (and my wife) last night to see her do her stuff live, think I was the oldest person in the room by about 20 years, but it was such a killer show!

Here's her big song (Language warning!)

Anyone else like to explore music outside their regular zone?

    That was pretty good.

Is it me, or is there a touch of Chrissie Amphlett in her voice?

    Back on topic...

I'm always looking for stuff that's outside of what I play. I find that there's always something I can steal and use elsewhere. :)

I've been liking this band for a while.

It's about as far away from what I play as you can probably get, but I dig how they introduce different stuff along the way.

That wasn't bad.....and as far as the language goes, it not nearly like a LOT of stuff out there.
Rather than using that language, though, if you want attention or to express your individuality, why not just grow your hair long, or wear flamboyant clothes, or set your instruments on fire?.....Oh WAIT!......WE already did that. ;) Yeah, I guess young people are always gonna push the envelope or boundaries to be noticed and not have the confidence to just let your talent speak for you. Kids need to watch some more Popeye.....cause "I am what I am and that's ALL that I am!"
    Thanks for posting......

Welp - that does qualify as "outside of my regular zone" I'll admit that. . .

That's even better.....I'll have to check out more of Zola Blood.
This is something a lot of people have never heard.....even though it's actually from 1980.

I am on the verge of being an "old fart" but really enjoy exploring all music styles. A little bad language does not bother me, as long as the product hangs together and is musical (yeah, whatever that means!) and the lyrics make some sense in the context of the music/vibe. (Why do I feel like I am rambling here? lol.) Thanks for the post. Enjoyed it.

K Flay is bad ass... that song was in heavy rotation on XMU when it was released a couple of years ago. Check out her duet with Robert DeLong... Favorite Color is Blue.

I got to see her a couple of years ago, In the Cut had just been released. Good live show, Judah and the Lion were on the bill as well.
