For those of you that like Irish whiskey... This is VERY smooth!!! AND, limited edition!

It's an "homage" to the TV series about Thomas Shelby, and company...

Sadly, I found it, as I'm trying to ween off alcohol... So, for what it's worth... I used to be a single malt Scotch drinker. However, I lost my taste and smell, due to you know what... and just started getting them back in the last couple of months...

Anyways... for those of you still imbibing, I hope you enjoy the heck out of this!!

By the time any of you respond, I'll have finished this bottle, and signed off of alcohol for good!

CHEERS!

I recently gave up whisky/whiskey after thirty-odd years. Well, I had, until I entered a bar in Glasgow last weekend and had a few Jameson's Black Barrell. I also spotted this Bushmills' Port Cask. Black Bush was a favourite of mine in Ireland. That said, I'm being good at staying off it.

Interesting expression, the Blinders' dram. I'll have a scout for it.

I've almost entirely quit drinking but Irish whiskey is my preferred brown likker. I have a bottle of Green Spot in the cabinet, great stuff

When I drank - it was Bushmill’s Black or Single Malt 10 year. If I didn’t drink for extended periods, I was fine no cravings. The problem was I’d start then immediately lock into daily intake from 5p until ? and it’d be really tough to break out of it but once I did - all was good. I never could get the moderation approach down lol. Anyway - Bushmills was a fave. I thought even Original was a great sipper.

“Prohibition” seems an odd marketing angle to take, since it wasn’t a thing in either Ireland (home of Bushmills) or the UK (setting for Peaky Blinders). Some lazy US-based marketer who thinks all gangsters must be something like Al Capone?? :D

Probably watered down during prohibition, so that's why it's smooth.....and profitable!

My understanding is, Bushmills was entering the US ILLEGALLY during the prohibition period... As were a number of drugs that weren't illegal then...

"Peaky Blinders," and others, were simply supplying whatever they thought would be profitable...

There wasn't much about that in the TV series... But, it was "based upon the Thomas Shelby" enterprises... Even though the series was based in Birmingham, England, the actual Shelby family enterprises (AFAIK) were from Ireland. Best I can find... Even Bushmills claims the Shelbys were from Ireland.

I'm Scots/Irish... So, the story interests me!

Back in early 2019 when I was at the CES show, I visited the Mob Museum in Las Vegas, which was lots of fun. As part of the tour, they give you small cups of modern recreations of what prohibition-era booze would have tasted like. Absolutely dreadful, dreadful stuff. I'm sure turpentine would have tasted better.

Legitimate businesses did well too. Exports to Canada spiked round about 1920. Guess they just started drinking more up there… That’s gotta be it, officer.

Maybe that was one of Al Capone's brands that were smuggled in through Detroit, to Chicago? Along with Crown Royal and Canadian Club?

The TV series did mention a New York connection...
