May is Mental Health month and Burger King is offering a series of "Real Meals" featuring a slogan - "No one is happy all the time"

The meals feature no toys and the marketing is supposed to ridicule the McDonalds Happy Meal.

    The box themes are....

    The Pissed meal
The No One Gives a F meal
    The Blue meal
    The Salty meal
    The YAAAS meal

    Here is an information. video.....

I don't know what to make of this. I care about people. I listen to family and friends and bandmates and co-workers when they feel down. I have pressure at work and with my marriage and with my elderly mom (who I love).

Hey it's lunch time! Life sucks!! - I'm not digging that.

I think a Blue meal or a Pissed meal would depress me. McDonalds Happy Meals have Avengers Toys right now. I wouldn't mind a Gamora to place on an amp. For real.

Maybe I'm missing the point and I need a whack in the head. Perhaps increasing awareness is a positive.

I don't know. What do you think about the Burger KIng Real Meal concept?

    What a strange concept...
But then, I'm not a regular BK customer.
This marketing effort does little to compile me to become a customer.

Isn't any "meal" from McDonalds or Burger King an unhappy meal?

I know I'd certainly be unhappy if I had to eat crap from either of those places.

I love Burger King's idea though. Life isn't puppies and sunshine. **** just sucks sometimes. They're keeping it real....even if the food isn't.

You get the point, you even said it. Raising awareness. If we are to make it easier for people to seek help, we need to normalize the discussion.

In order to normalize it, we need to allow for many approaches--including ones that may just be a 'light' take on the subject. This isn't making fun of people with issues or those going through some difficulty. It's just making the language more prevalent and therefore easier to talk about.

Weird way to sell burgers, but...OK.

I think I might open a burger place in Colorado, since this is where I live, and call it the "Burger Joint" and serve the "Always Happy Meal"......

I also saw this, and figured it was a satire/send-up

BK has been about "clever" advertising for quite some time now, with the creepy King and all. While this kind of thing makes for advertising that is somewhat memorable because it sticks out, I don't know that it actually helps sell product. But hey, who knows, maybe it does

don't care, a hamburger isn't going to cure anyone of their issues, and if it does they didn't really have an issue to begin with, Just another corporate giant trying to virtue signal for a cash grab

Unfortunately, the research indicates that the best way to sell product is to have the customer remember it. Apparently, even if their memory of it is negative.

I buck the tend, though. I have a list of products I won't buy because I find their advertising insulting or in bad taste.

I never thought I would say this with a straight face.....but.....FAKE NEWS!!!!!! ;)
EDIT.....well, ok. snopes.com has nothing on this, and the Washington Post is reporting it as "real". Thanks BigDaddy......I'm flabbergasted. Depression and bullying as a marketing tool.....we REALLY have fallen down the rabbit hole!

Personally, i like seeing a marketing campaign that says happy doesn't have to be the default and that it's ok to feel otherwise sometimes. Everything doesn't have to be a field of flowers and the whole world having a party.

This one seems right up there with a tourism ad like "Nebraska...it's not for everyone!"
