Missed an incredible deal by a hair.
damn... I'm bummed.
Hey wait a minute, what’s that right around the corner ?
Yeah - right down there ...
... another smoking deal!
We are coming around to a present where we will all run out of money long before we run out of things that we are able to purchase very very cheaply...
I've had that before on eBay. Shot down by a last-second sniping app. Unethical but legal...
Lots of folks in this area unloading old/vintage cars worth fixing/driving and/or restoring - some great deals, low miles and rust, etc... You need a trailer and a tow vehicle to get them, though, which I have neither. Not to mention place or tools to work on a vehicle. But that's another thing.
Kinda painful to watch stuff get sold to someone who does... OTOH, kinda painful to watch them sit listed for a few days/weeks. Someone just buy the damn thing and stop the torture.
I hate when that happens!
In a related manner, I missed out on one of Fender’s American FSRs a couple of years ago. I had stopped paying much attention to new offering and Fender had a limited run of Thinlines with a neck humbucker. I would like have bought one but never got the chance. They pop up now and then but offered at obscene prices.
I find alcohol is appropriate in these situations.
I don’t have a problem..
Want salt in the wound?......tell us about the deal you "just missed", and then another member posts, "Oh.....I just bought that". THAT would tick me off.
I think we're about to see a bunch of good deals..
Don't drop the soap!
I relish the deals I have come across over the years, but I really enjoy reading fellow members here finding outstanding, incredidible deals.
what are the ethics around sniping?
It goes against the spirit of bidding on an auction site. Even if you had a few seconds to respond you'd probably be outbid in automatic steps. Hey-ho, that's the way it is...
There'll obviously be no complaints from sellers though.
I missed this Sunday night. The seller had listed it on FB marketplace and I texted him as soon as I saw it. Turns out he was just down the road from me. I heard from him the next morning that it had sold on reverb first. I had been looking for one of these for a few years. And I even dug the upgrades . Ah well.
