More evidence that our grandfathers were much cooler than we'll ever be.
That and the chase scene from The French Connection are my all-time favourites.
Great chase, though I don't really dig the ending so much. The way it starts is awesome.
And, of course, the VW bug that keeps showing up is hilarious.
Not a fan of "The French Connection" car chase. The cars are ugly, and the moves aren't as cool.
Popeye Doyle is badass!
Seat belts are only needed when accelerating
Funny you mention .... Bullitt was on TV just 2 days ago.
... and there's Robert Duvall as a taxi driver.
Duvall is one of those good all-round actors that never got pidgeon-holed ... The Godfather, Falling Down, Apocalypse Now, ...very different roles.
That is the best chase in the world.
Now PC software and fast and furious ruined the scene.
You can fall from planes or towers in a lambo , use nitro every 10 seconds and lost a heli in a chase pffff.
And at the end of the film eat hotdogs and drinking beer like nothing happened.
I wish the "Vanishing Point" chase scenes were better. The car is awesome, but the chases are lame.
I have never disliked any movie Duvall was in.
I once counted the wheel covers coming off the Plymouth or Dodge......I believe it was the right side that lost three of them......but who really cares?
And like @EsquireOK mentions.....the VW Bug that keeps turning up!
Thank you.Always loved that scene. Steve McQueen did it all.Quite the man.Maybe a little rough for some...
Don’t forget the Jazz club scene!! Cool stuff
Thanks for that.
When Steve McQueen was a wayward youth he spent some time at Boys Republic in Chino Hills CA and credited them for helping straighten him out.
He left funds and every year (before COVID) they sponsor a car show featuring his collection I knew some people who work there. They do good work with wayward kids.
Both epic & iconic. To Live & Die in LA is also pretty good
After The French Connection, I remember a movie called The Seven Ups that I think specifically tried to win the car chase wars.
I remember it being pretty epic.
I thought the movie was only like a ten minute chase scene? Honestly I haven't seen the whole movie. Was it good?
Didn't the Dodge lose more than four hubcaps?
The Seven Ups crash was filmed in my neighborhood on the Taconic State Parkway. It's a bad road, lots of crashes. And is it just me or is the driver of the Charger also in the Seven Ups?
i was just going to mention the 7ups
