If you haven't heard of him, you owe it to yourself to check him out.

.... and he doesn't just shred.

Totaly amazing talent that few have heard of even tho he has put out over 300 albums!

Does the shred better than Vai, does tapping better than EVH, does rock better than Slash (was in GnR for 2 yrs), does the kill switch thing better than Tom Morrello and plays stunning ambient acoustic stuff, plays bass better than Flee and even has a signature Les Paul (27" scale!), to boot.

... and then there is the mystery.....

If it took a bucket on his head to get him out of his bedroom and sharing his talents, its perfectly OK by me.

Like the specs of his Les Paul, shame it's rare as I just want one with the same specs. One of the reasons I like my Tele is it's longer scale length.

He is one of the greats, but not taken as seriously as he might be due to the image. I love his mellower music. Also prefer to see him playing with other people rather than to backing tracks - like with Claypool and Worrell.

I read a while back he’d auditioned to play with Ozzy and would’ve had the job but Ozzy couldn’t take the bucket either. He’s definitely a very hard working and talented musician but it’s something when you’re too weird for Ozzy.

He's brilliant, and unlike so many great players, has a sense of humor. Like many phenomenal players, he makes music that can become a bit overwhelming depending on the ongoing order of tunes, so I much prefer to hear him in smaller chunks. That's my own limitation, not his. His musicality is phenomenal; as with EVH, it becomes a little easy to just hear the speed and technical command and miss the music itself.

Yeah, but he is 6' 7" with hands like an octopus and even with the 27" scale he stretches further than most can on a 24".
