Here's a backing that I thought we might play with. I was in the mood for something in a major key and came upon this. Do note that I've posted this at Strat-Talk, but the activity on the jams/challenges there has been a bit anemic and I thought we might have more fun with this over here. I hope you enjoy it:

From those opening lines, I knew there was a kicka$$ country tune coming. Great tone, great playing, and nice phrasing. More restrained than my upcoming take for sure. I like it!

Here's mine. The track is fun to play on.
Tele Baja 60s and a little barely audible b-bender with my pine tele.

knh555 Sweet feedback on the intro, it sounds great and a very fine combo of guitars in the mix.

Alan L Cole Your tone is spot on, melodic, dynamic and love the higher note sections.

JCL50 It has that modern country feel, lovely tone, and can hear the passion in your track.

Mellencaster: The track is so melodic you could write lyrics for it and make a song out of it.
knh555: This sounds like it could be part of a movie soundtrack. It generates rising and falling emotion.
Alan L. Cole: This one is anthemic. Just what the track calls for.
JCL50: This one is sweet and subtle. Interesting, but never over the top.

I'll try to make my own attempt tomorrow.

Wow! I am in awe of each of these tracks you guys posted. I'm stuck at a beginner level playing guitar, but I know excellent playing when I hear it. And I just heard it.

Here's mine. I had to convert the original M4A track to .WAV format to use it.

I decided to try out my Hotone Purple Wind with the Hotone Binary IR Cab's Marshall 1960TV 4x12 IR. Guitar is Mosrite JR kit, neck mini humbucker. Reverb added by Audacity.

Thanks. I had something specific and personal in mind when making this.

@Mellencaster - Sweet country intro Mike. Dig the chord work and dynamic range of your playing. Nice technique too.
@knh555 - Nice use of controlled feedback throughout the track Kevin. Your signature melancholy vibe, melodic playing and tone are highlighted here.
@JCL50 - Sweet bluesy fused country playing - phrasing and technique.
@bgmacaw - Nice melodic playing and pacing - cool tone too!

    Thanks for the track, but I must hesitate;

@Alan L Cole I assume that's the Jag. Or is it the pictured guitar (LP?). Great sound, great playing, and even better, very tuneful. Coherent and composed. I think your staccato style works well on this backer.

@JCL50 This sounded like a good modern country tune to me that moves well with the backer as the energy dials up and down. Or maybe a 70's Southern Rock ballad perhaps. Played well with the band and nicely mixed.

@bgmacaw Great take within the track. Also played well with the band and worked the changing energy and changes.

Thank you for that. This is a judgement free zone full of encouragement, so whatever level you're at, if you feel up to it, give it a go and post your take. It's all good here and recording, listening to yourself, and simply putting your music out there will help you work towards becoming the musician you want to be.

I usually picture the guitar or instrument used in my tracks in the song pic. So in this case Kevin, it is my LP Special. Thanks for the feedback!

And ditto on your comments to @Soonerman.
