I'd love to be able to duplicate that finish. Would there happen to be a build thread on that one? I also plan to do a rear rout for controls similar to that one.

No, I don't think so. Built it a number of years ago.
Basically red and brown aniline dye and nitro.

Is there any chance of getting a similar finish with red tinted nitro rattle cans?

Doubt it, but you could stain first and then use clear.
Test on scrap!

I used a paint on Amazon recommended by Rich Rice. It said was for chrome bumpers . I'll look again in my purchases. My first BB was in that finish

Check out Mohawk Medium-Red Mahogany Lacquer Toner aerosol

I use Mohawk Toners quite a bit - they have some really nice colors, and the stuff sprays very nicely

The toners are a diluted solution, so you can creep up on your targeted color or add another coat or two around the edges to hide the end-grain

They are a good quality of lacquer and perfectly compatible with with Mohawk lacquer top-coats

A great option if you don't have a decent rig for spraying - warm the aerosol cans up a little before spraying and the Mohawk stuff flows out real nicely
