I've had this probably 80's Japanese or Korean Strat copy sitting in the attic for years. I kinda felt sorry for it and decided to give it a new life with a minimal investment.

Neck is in a decent condition, I'll have to cut a new nut, do a Tru oil or shellac refinish, see if frets have enough meat to be leveled and recrowned. I'll need new AlNiCo polepieces, cause these are not magnetic, and also wind the pups.

Bridge and tremolo are gonna stay, just don't know if I should strip the (chrome?) layer and expose the clean brass in a combo with the new looking finish or leave all metal parts rusty and try some slightly worn look.

I was thinking Olympic, Daphne or Surf in nitro for a finish but I'm not quite sure if any of those.

What do you guys think? I'm open for all, even unconventional ideas. IMG_20190613_171529.jpg IMG_20190613_171601.jpg IMG_20190613_171711.jpg IMG_20190613_171647.jpg

Look, there's a wasp nest in the output jack route. IMG_20190614_155543.jpg

I second Daphne Blue or Surf Green. I have had recent encounters with guitars of both colors and wanted one.

I tend to those two more and more. Something in between with a yellower pickguard. 1965-fender-stratocaster-sonic-blue-7-3.jpg

I say if you’re going to
Refinish it, you should rhinestone it up super gaudy; because honestly that’s what I pictured when I initially read the title of this thread. “broadway Strat” just screams loud shiny bejeweled/bedazzled garishness to me...

Does anybody have an idea what the body wood is? It's pretty light, but not like balsa, the grain pattern is a lot like spanish cedar but without the red tint. IMG_20190614_155614.jpg

Do you guys think this thread is misplaced here in a Strat subforum? It's more a refinish than a Strat...
