I brought these in today and put some leather journals in them for no reason. I just wanted the Fender bookends on my back desk.

The HR person came in and exclaimed "Oooh - Baby whale! Is that a scuba trip souvenir?"

    Me "Baby whale?"

Her - happy - she points "Baby whale - the tail is cute"

Me - "No that is part of a Fender electric guitar"

Her - "Looks like a whale - head and tail but there's no eye"

Me - "Um......look at this picture on my ipad"

She looked at me disbelieving - "You didn't saw up your guitar"

I tried to explain the bookends are a fun product offered by Fender and I was loosing her. She was drifting into the ether at that point.

Damn. That's all I had at that point. Damn. o_O

Every time I see your picture, you remind me a lot of my brother-in-law; it's almost like you could be brothers.

Well, I'm not good with faces, so take that with a grain of salt.

It would have saved a lot of time if you’d just nodded and said, “Yes, it is a baby whale, the little eyes fell off.”
And you should order a few of these for next time:

Beautiful baby whale! You didn't kill it to make bookends, did you?

    Nice bookends, though. :)

Is it just a fluke that the tail fin fell off?

Of course I take it with a grain of salt. I just feel really bad for your brother in law. To think that there's yet another man who looks like Fred Flintstone! Poor fellow. ;)

That’s either why she’s in HR or why I’m surprised she’s in HR.

I guess only you could answer that !

Then save the picture. That way, your bookends will be virtual too!

Those bookends are cool but I can't help wondering what a baby whale set would look like.

Those look very nice. They are a little pricey for me, though. Any chance Squier makes them?:D

Sounds like she needs a Telecaster cutting board for Christmas.

Explain what an effort it was to club it to death to make the bookends. Oh! Wait! That was for the baby seal bookends...
