teletimetx- trucker hats are cool, but they don't look right on me since my spring shave

The 70s called again, they said to keep the half pack of Kools in the pocket

Hey, the Outlaw movement might have been a 70's deal. But if you look at current condition of country music, we need the Outlaw Movement back. So tell you what, pass me a leather vest, keep your Kools, I'm a Marb Red guy. I'll drop the Low E string, crank up the phaser pedal, and we can all bring back Outlaw.

Ahhmm, was it not Waylon who said "Don't you think this outlaw bit has done got out of out of hand?"

There's tons of great country music out right now...just not on the radio:
Bart Crow Band, Charlie Robison, Ryan Bingham, Cooder Graw, Dale Watson, Jason Bolland, Mark Stuart, Mavericks, Derailers,
Red Dirt Rangers, Turnpike Troubadours, Robert Earl Keen, Roger Creager, Stoney LaRue just a few.

When I had a landline/better data plan, I used to tune in daily, to stations like Boot Liquor & other Outlaw stations.

Uhm, maybe I missed it but how has no one mentioned HANKIII yet? That man is the heart and soul of outlaw country these days without question for me. Whitey Morgan has been mentioned as well as Turnpike Troubadors and others I would have named. I liked Shooter Jennings a lot as well. There's also a great Canadian musician named Mike Plume who is absolutely terrific.

I will have my EP done shortly and it could be right up your alley as well. Ill inbox it to you when it's done!

They just don't have the sound I'm looking for, I've had chances to write with credible artists but they are all so modern and don't understand me. We don't have to be off the same bus, but anymore not being off the same bus the difference between the two is night and day. But congrats too all who have made it through music city.

Country music was in it's prime then, why can't it be now? If you are interested in writing or just talking about music message me.
Flak hell, when you're right, you're right. Waylon is the man.

I love Dale, but he's all about his heroes.

Jamey Johnson has a lot of Waylon attitude. Sturgill Simpson does too, but he's going more into the psychedelia that Waylon started.

Whitey Morgan is about Waylon -esque as it gets in my opinion.

I have Sirius XM radio in my truck and all I listen to 90% of the time is Outlaw Country, Bluesville and Ozzys Boneyard. In that order, and I'm mostly a blues player!

Whitey Morgan is what you are looking for, imo.

There's a definite counter-culture building in country music, though I wouldn't expect it ever to be 100% mainstream the way it was in the 70's and 80's. If it ever did go mainstream, it would be ruined quickly anyway.

Whitey Morgan and Jamey Johnson and all that stuff LOOKS like outlaw, but every time I hear them play it just sounds like a slow, mournful George Jones heartbreak song. I want to rock! That's why Waylon always stuck out to me amongst all the others....he gets you movin and your boots stompin! I thought I wanted to move to Nashville lately, but now you guys are making me miss Texas! I've never lived in the Austin area (born in Dallas, lived in Houston/Galveston for a long time), but I'm about ready to pack up and head back down to the promised land. I don't care if I'm one of a million "outlaw" country singers, as long as I can play with some real pickers and stompers!
