    OMG, are you sugggesting somehow that it's NOT jUST THE PICKUPS that affect the tone of an electric guitar?!? Heresy! Leave the internet immediately. ;)

    That's what the Tone controls are for.

    Tone controls, at least passive ones, don’t add bass or mids. Also, there is a broad range of high frequencies. Tone controls aren’t exactly a scalpel.

    and if you tell me that “that’s what an EQ pedal is for,” I’ll tell you that I’d rather just have a different pickup.
