There's a mechanic at our service center. The mechanic's name is Brian. I asked him this question to see how good a mechanic he is and he actually got it right in about ten seconds.

    Here it is:

Bob calls his brother, Bill. "Hey, I'm having car problems and I'm pulled over on the side of the road. Can you come give me a hand? Bring a tow strap."

Bill shows up with a tow strap but he looks at Bob's car and says "I can't tow you to your house with my car."

Bob says "That's okay, I'll tow YOU with MY car."

What was wrong with Bob's car?

You guys have any more Brian teasers? (Doesn't have to be mechanical.)

Bob's car was f'd alright but Bill didn't know where Bob lived so Bob drove Bill's car while Bill steered Bob's.

I thought we had a winner but... nope. I had to edit my Brian Teaser though, so, good job! :D Now, since Bob and Bill are brothers, Bill knows exactly where Bob lives and Bob is not going to drive Bill's car. Bugger me...

Bob and Bill had exchanged cars. Bill’s car, which Bob was driving, had broken down. Bill arrived at the scene driving Bob’s car.

I would say Bobs brakes had failed so Bills car would provide the brakes. Do I win?????

Bob's battery is dead. Bill can't tow Bob, but Bob can take Bill's battery, swap it into his car, and tow Bill with his now functional vehicle.

Yes, Bob's brakes don't work so Bill is the anchorman on the way to Bob's house, which is downhill.

Steelforth’s answer made more sense. I propose his answer is the new “correct” answer.

Nope, but that’s and interesting look at it. You get a half point credit for thinking outside the box.

You must not be an old man like the most of us are and have not had the joy of having someone tow you with a rope or chain or strap with you in your car.

When I was a younger man and my manual transmission car broke down, I would have a friend or my brother come tow me to a place where I could work on my car.

if you didn’t have a decent sized pipe to run the tow line through to maintain distance, it was an art of timing to be the brakes of the operation.
