    Last night was a blast!

I caught the BSO at the Arena theater, which is a theater in the round. Best seats I have had to a show in a long time.

So, I am a rockabilly guy, but I also love horns. This horn section is fabulous, I was in heaven.

I expected Setzer to impress and he did, but the rhythm section is mind blowing. Johnny Hatton (bass) and Daniel Glass (drums) stole my attention the entire show.

I've always had mixed feelings about Setzer. One the pro side:

    great guitarist, absolutely no doubt
    great ear for neglected genres
pioneer in blending swing and rockabilly
Employs a lot of good musicians

    On the con side

the whole 50s greaser schtick is odd and a little off-putting for me. Enough already, you're a great musician, you don't need it. He's about exactly my age, so it seems a little corny and put-on.

We have tix to see BSO in Seattle the day after Christmas, I can’t wait. I wanted to go a few years ago but it was really expensive ($200 a seat). Glad I waited.

We saw the trio a while back, which was good, but we actually enjoyed the opener, Paul Pigat, more. But I’m playing swing almost exclusively these days so the big band should be great. I’ll report back after the show.

I don't see it as any different than any other musicians schtick. Keith Richards, Earl Slick, etc.

Saw the show a couple of weeks ago at the DPAC in Durham, NC. Loved it! Setzer is one cool cat and fendertx is right, the Brian/Johnny/Daniel trio can go!

Never had the pleasure of seeing the man in person, but I love some of his stuff. I still play one of his classics.

I watched one of his Christmas concerts on TV a few years back. What a fantastic marriage, that great trio combined with a beautiful sounding orchestra.

I think his look has changed since he has aged. It is still rockabilly, as it should be, but his clothing appears a bit less extreme.....I could be wrong.

Little guy with a big guitar that he just owns.

I sat next to the orchestra pit, which was being used as the tech area. I got to watch the guitar tech work all night.

Cool. I've seen the Setz a bunch of times. Yep he's an absolute master.

And yep he's getting a little bit of schmaltz with his years.

I've seen his xmas show twice. Generally, I hate xmas music but his take is actually very enjoyable.

And the way he dresses is cool! The show wouldn't be as good if he didn't look the part.

That's half the fun of going to see a live show for us gearheads. That and trying to identify the equipment they are using.

Amen, brother. I'm afraid that I drive my wife just a little bit crazy doing this.

We caught his show in Biloxi. Such a good time. Hope to see him again. Would love to see him with just a small band concentrating on rockabilly.
