I think the problem is pro-athletes like that are so used to getting a free lunch everywhere they go that it literally turns into their primary mindset. Before I lived in River Falls The Chiefs used to practice here. Back in '93-94 Joe Montana was their QB; he'd party in town but never had any money.

My mom's basement.
What exactly is Wississippi?
A label some of us in Wisconsin have given the state over the past 12 years. The state has gained big differences between more and less prosperous areas opposed to a long time prior, and has had some poorly run messes that didn't work as planned all while the once famous for good roads and schools all over changed.

We own two homes in the state in counties that typify the extremes. We are active in our communities, don't fall into typical extremes or tribes, and from that know the differences really well.
A strong human being wouldn't be involved in this story--he's done enough already to make even the most die-hard of his fans wonder "What the heck?"
You answered @MickM for me. I have a lot of experience in community and charity matters. My associates include some very high level current and former business, sports and political leaders including Whitehouse cabinet members and governors. The people I work for do a huge charity that brings in famous people. Over and over in decades of that I have seen decent people don't touch the stench. If a mistake is made they correct it fast.

I also know the mentality @Cadillac_Mike mentions. In the earlier Internet years was assigned to put in a communications and database system for a fundraising group in high level college sports they wanted separate from the university. In college I had a former brief career NFL player in a class. A new teaching assistant had no idea she was not supposed to give equal treatment to football players. About 20 years later I was next to that guy on a plane trip across the country. When he remembered that class he sort of spilled the beans on how hard it was to become normal and truly do things on his own.

I've been gone from Alabama for a very long time, but I am glad to learn it does have its positive attributes!
I think the last time I drove through Mississippi was in 1998. If I ever go to Alabama again, wait! No use planning a route around Mississippi, I ain't ever going to Alabama again.

You know, I don't mind throwing lettuce and tomatoes at Bret Farve, but it is interesting that the people suing him have publicly admitted they WERE AT FAULT FOR GIVING HIM THE MONEY! He's now asking for a dismissal of the suit. I reckon it would be at least somewhat amusing if he gets it!
