So…Favre returned the $1Million that he was given for speeches that he never gave, right? That was right nice of him, wasn’t it? One wonders why he took the payments in the first place. And of course, it was important for his under-privileged daughters to have a proper place to play what… volleyball, right??….at his alma mater.
It is true that the measure of a society is what that society values. We are reaping what we sow, it seems.

A steel guitar engagment.
True. I prefer an occasional go to a game over TV and I'm about 10 years into mostly doing sports myself before the old body can't.

As far as the court of public opinion, the scam committed here can't be disputed. Farve was not a state employee who misappropriated the TANF money, thus not charged for that crime. This lawsuit as I understand it is the sate trying to get that money back from a list of people involved. It's not a criminal prosecution. I remain with my strong opinion that it all wreaks and his text messages make him really stinky.

Traditional or good examples of high asset individuals trying to build a sports facility usually have the donor give their own money or create a fund to eventually do that.

This is a civil case and not judging someone guilty of a crime before they had a fair trial. The all of it so far shows his proximity, benefiting from the grift, and his concerns for not getting caught.

He's already given a lot of money back related to other parts of the total mess. It doesn't seem to me that most and innocent people give serious amounts of money back when they've done nothing wrong.
When was he supposed to give the speeches? How many? During what timeline? Don't know?
228K interest on a million bucks seems like a high rate. What was the rate over what time period?
I'm merely saying that everybody needs to stop the gum flappin' until it all comes out in the wash.
Those that have been accused of something they didn't do and have the truth come out later know that the impact isn't near that as when the accusations are made.

His guilt or innocence in this scheme will be proven in time. He's already established himself firmly as a narcissistic jerk -- one of those guys who's a good old boy when winning and a whiny, complainy, ugly, self-absorbed dirtbag when things don't go his way. It's great not having to see or hear him anymore. Outside of a courtroom, that is.

To paraphrase an old Billie Holiday song…
”them that’s got shall take
From those who don’t.”

The least Favre did was associate with some self-acknowledging thieves…..five of six who were charged have pleaded guilty. Of course, it would not be the first time that a person with a certain fame has been taken in by dirty scams.

If we are going to throw stones at rich folks who take advantage of the poor folks, we'd better have a big rock-truck.

I've been reading about the whole mess. Lot's of dirty hands.

I'm not a sports guy so other than hearing the name in the past. This,.. situation,.. is my first knowledge of the guy. The facts speak loudly as to his character. Old story, Privileged screws Poor aided by Government.

A somewhat pejorative term for Wisconsin.

Meant to evoke its perceived backwards nature relative to its location in the country.

Source: I lived in Minnesota for years. Never missed an opportunity to rip on Wisconsin.
As a former Alabamian, was always thankful for Mississippi..... "We'll always be 49th, NEVER 50th!" 🤣

It's not just celebrity. Humanity as a whole has just gotten so disgustingly uncivilized.

As for people of his calibre, I wrangle an inner smirk when I read this behavior. I hope he rots.

It's national news, and has been for some time. At least national sports news. But yes, it's a widely discussed story.
I watch local, national and global news 5 days a week. And watch NFL every Sunday. This is the first I heard of it.

A strong human being wouldn't be involved in this story--he's done enough already to make even the most die-hard of his fans wonder "What the heck?"
