This is so much why I often loathe the big time stick and ball sports. I believe he earned well more than $100 million in his career. A decent person would donate his own money to help his kid's interest and stay far from a scam. It seems extra slimy being TANF (temporary assistance for needy families) funds.

Raising 3 sporty kids and only recently was quite interesting. We supported their interests in traditional team and other sports. Even in a modern improved world, the teams and especially stick/ball teams would almost always be too close or in some really poor behavior for kids to copy and follow. I'm very thankful for the instances that are good.

I'm just saying or at least my intent is to say it smells really bad. This lawsuit is to collect from the scammers - not determine if the scam exists. His proximity to the scam is well-documented. I quoted one of the text messages.

I didn't intend to make controversy as much as highlight poor behavior and wonder how local this instance might be because there was a time when Farve was well known all over.

I've been involved in parks 'n rec stuff for decades and the term stick and ball has often been used to describe sports like basketball, tennis, baseball, and foot ball, golf course and those sorts of facilities or properties vs the also sports such as hunt/fish, hike, parks and conservancy lands.

That's not so simple anymore because there are frisbee, skiing and even scholastic bicycle leagues.

My apologies if it is derogatory, but parks 'n rec staff use it. From a call earlier today about signs I need to put up, a parks staff person said the stick and ball stuff is ready for winter but we're getting more winter etiquette signs for the golf course.

I read the first linked story (didn't want to mess with ad block for 2nd) and from what I can tell, if he did anything illegal he would be charged with the others who were charged.

True. I prefer an occasional go to a game over TV and I'm about 10 years into mostly doing sports myself before the old body can't.

As far as the court of public opinion, the scam committed here can't be disputed. Farve was not a state employee who misappropriated the TANF money, thus not charged for that crime. This lawsuit as I understand it is the sate trying to get that money back from a list of people involved. It's not a criminal prosecution. I remain with my strong opinion that it all wreaks and his text messages make him really stinky.

Traditional or good examples of high asset individuals trying to build a sports facility usually have the donor give their own money or create a fund to eventually do that.

This is a civil case and not judging someone guilty of a crime before they had a fair trial. The all of it so far shows his proximity, benefiting from the grift, and his concerns for not getting caught.

He's already given a lot of money back related to other parts of the total mess. It doesn't seem to me that most and innocent people give serious amounts of money back when they've done nothing wrong.
