    Hello Telecaster Friends,

Here is part 1 of my interview with Brent Mason. Please tell me what you think. Part 2 and 3 will release in the next week or so. In the past, Brent always seemed so serious to me, so it was a pleasant surprise to find out how funny he is.

Brent Mason is one of the titans of the Nashville studio scene who's impact on the "Nashville Sound" cannot be overstated. His versatile and ear-catching guitar work has helped define the works of some of the greatest Country Music Artists of all time, including, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Randy Travis and Blake Shelton among many, others. In part 1 of our Truetone Lounge interview Mason tells of his early years in Ohio, his move to Nashville, and how Chet Atkins helped launch his career by having him guest on his Stay Tuned album in 1985. Brent also discusses the shift from pristine "direct" guitar tones in the 80's, to earthier "amp" tones in the early 90's. Watch for part 2, where we continue his story from the mid-1990's to today.

Excellent Zac ! Not surprised by the interview and Brents personality. While we are not friends by any stretch of the imagination , I have met and spoke with Brent several times thru the years, he's very approachable, very friendly and very low key about the " I'm Brent Mason" thing. I think he drinks Beer and eats Hot Dogs just like the rest of us.

Brent is a truly a gifted, blessed musician and knows what to do with his gift and brought it to yet another level.
