I just finished changeing my saddles to brass, and wow I can seriously hear a massive difference. Wonder why they dont use them more like stock on a guitar.

    What kind of difference?

I've messed about with steel and brass, but I've wondered if the main difference is that I just like how the brass ones look.

Brass certainly has an old-timey look. I’m in favor!

I'm in the camp that likes the look.....but I honestly don't hear much difference.
The "power of suggestion" is mighty significant. ;)

Don’t look a psychological upgrade in the mouth.

I had a Hipshot B-bender on my 52RI for a while. Had to change that saddle to steel; the string "stuck" to the brass, made a squeak and began to cut a notch.

Just got some gotah’s in the mail yesterday. Wife said there was too much chrome on my new guitar. Quick fix. I’ll swap them out today.
I sure hope it helps me sound better.

I have a CVC that came with the all thread barrels. Kept having dead strings on the unwound strings. Got some inexpensive brass barrels from Stew Mac. End of story no dead string now for almost a year. Just changed again only because they’d become tarnished. Gives me incentive to play more often.

I love brass saddles. I feel they have a little more ring to them than stainless - brightens up the sound. I’m also becoming a fan of brass nuts for the same reason, but I do like the warmth of bone on certain guitars.

What you think everyone? So this is my 08 squier vintage modified telecaster custom, it's supposed to have witch hat knobs but when I bought it someone had put these dark amber lookin knobs on it, and I thought it would look better like I've got it now. And to me it's like the sound is bigger more ring, and the notes seem more defined(if any of that makes any sense....)I wanna change tuners to locking, and maybe pickups to a real Cunife and maybe a Seymour duncan pearly gates ...

Those saddles do look nice. But I kind of like the witch hats on there.

    Brass is overrated, Imho ...

In a blind listening test, nobody could tell a difference...

In a deaf listening test, the results were the same ...

Could you not have polished the saddles rather than buying new ones?

It's no coincidence that in changing to brass saddles you notice a difference in tone, but it's probably because you changed out the strings at the same time.

The barrels are the StewMac brass. The strings had become tarnished but still sounded good.

So I installed the gotah brass saddles. Turns out they are just brass plated. Is that normal? Can’t say it affected the sound. Kinda don’t care for the looks either. But my wife likes it.

Brass saddles are one of the very few things that are supposed to make a tonal difference that actually did, when I tried them. A big difference.
