You all have done well, I’m jealous, getting a divorce myself but expect to be much happier. We’re still great friends but just don’t have the same interests or much in common anymore. No kids and no tears however, smooth transition to single shortly.

My wife could have been a model, a doctor, anything she wanted. Instead she chose to be my wife and partner for 46 years. She also bought me a Martin D-1 in 1997 which kicked it all off for me again after many years not playing.

In 2009 my wife had a reoccurrence of an "incurable" type of cancer. Despite incredible odds against her, and after a harrowing ordeal, she kicked its a$$. Today she's healthy, we're happy, and dealing with all the craziness out there together. She's smart, funny, kind, compassionate, fair minded and respectful of other human beings. She's also silly, irreverent, funny and fun. One of the MANY good activities she's been involved in is "gleaning". She is a volunteer who shows up at predetermined farm sites and harvests food that would otherwise rot and waste. They meticulously clean it up and routinely redistribute it to food shelfs, senior centers, kids programs, veterans centers, mental health street programs, etc. A win-win for many. She worked as a high school counselor helping kids with all the issues they'd have . She's volunteered with hospice, mothers and infants, and even gone to the local hospital to hold and comfort newborns when their mothers were unable to. Along with all these saintly qualities she's irreverent, earthy and IMHO (as well as many other guys) a knockout!! Her smile should be registered with the government. She looks 20 years younger than she is, looks 30 years younger than me, and gets mildly annoyed when I mention that. She jokes about all the women who "want" me, and doesn't have a shred of jealousy about that kind of stuff. She puts up with my boorish behavior, my outdoor gear, my "excessive number" of guitars, and most of all, ME. She's mostly steady and even keeled, mostly all the time. Did I mention that she's funny? And cute?

I'll stop now. Far be it from me to be long winded. Besides, she'd kill me if she caught me posting this.

Back in 1998 my then-girlfriend loaned me a good chunk of the $$ to buy the AV 57 Stratocaster that I'm holding.

Yeah, I knew then that I'd found a keeper (well, I already had figured that out, to be honest...)

So, I married her the next year. Today is our 21st anniversary. Still have the guitar too.

BTW, yes I did pay her back the $$ before we got married...:D

I have not the words to express my appreciation for my wife, and her many wonderful qualities. She's undeniably the brains in this outfit. She's also an excellent back seat driver! :D

Same, hitched to the wrong 'un at 19 although she gave me the Smiths instead of Blues so that could be a W or L depending on perspective. We made it three years, surprised it took even that long; second go, found my other half too, but having a first one has been great for comparative perspective.

My wife told me today, "You can play your guitar all day if you want."

She cooks me a hot, nutritious meal every day, even if she's not hungry, herself.

    She even cuts my hair.

She got me back in church after 20 years of riotous living.

And yes, she bought me a bass when I needed one and didn't complain when we had band practice in the garage.

She's a retired one-star. And NO, I do not take orders very well.

We really, really, really love and like each other. Everything else is icing on the cake.

We're former colleagues who kept in touch, have known each other for at least 20 years, lived together for 2 of those, then have been married for 4 years next month.

She wants me to get a good guitar amp as my self-present for retirement, too.

She's put up with me for over 25 years, and only tolerantly shakes her head and half-smiles at my <s>obsessions</s> hobbies.

Mine bought me the Tele in this pic. ‘Nuff said!
    upload_2020-9-18_19-30-47.jpeg

I had the matching Strat and she overheard me tell a friend that was notorious for buying guitars and selling them off cheap that I wanted dibs on it when he was ready to sell and that I would give him what he paid. Never heard from him. 9 months later she and the kids brought it in to me on Father’s Day.

I wonder if there was ever a “battle of the orchestras” where banjo and mandolin would go head to head?

Been married 8 months and have one hell of a spouse! She cooks up a storm and she made me one of the best chicken fried steaks I have ever had not too long ago. Can’t beat that!

    Two things;

My wife puts up with my shiit.

And, every time she walks by and sees me viewing a guitar online, she asks,

    "What's that there? "

I reply, "Oh, it's this guitar, I really think it's beautiful and interesting. But I'm not planning to get it."

She always replies, "You should get it. You work hard. You should have everything your heart desires."

I always pause, and then page-off the guitar.
And I say, "I have you. That's all my heart desires."

And then I usually go ahead and get the guitar.
