It's always good to be able to go out in your own time, and in your own way. A great storybook ending would have been if he had retired after the championship in Tampa Bay, but it happens a lot that guys don't know when to quit. Good for him, though.

Hilarious and pathetic exit.

You know, I'll be the first to say Tom was a great quarterback, but I'm not sure I can listen to him call a game. Of course, if you can stand to listen to Tony Romo call a game, I reckon your ears are already damaged enough so that it won't matter. The first time I heard Tony calling a game I spent twenty minutes checking all the cables on my tv to see what was the matter with it.

There's a famous sports talk show guy on the tube making the case with numbers that Montana was the best ever Super Bowl QB, and Peyton Manning was the best ever regular season QB .... but the guy who wills himself and his teams to 7 SB wins is hands-down the GOAT, hard to argue that in my eyes. He's gone now and Ipads are breathing a sigh of relief everywhere; but fortunately the NFL has been re-stocked with some great young QBs and more to come.
I was wondering about Montana because in my mind he’s on that same level. It has always been hard to rate different players from different time periods. So let’s say Joe Montana was best in Super Bowls and Peyton Manning was best in regular season. Then who was best overall regular season and post season?

If Tom would just get around and get going on doing Reverse Mortgage commercials, maybe him and Tom Selleck could reenact the final scene of Quigley Down Under. Tom and Tom could face off, then after the shootout, TS could do a serious voice over: Don't be caught dead without your Reverse Home Mortgage like Tom was.
He's already in trouble for pimping crypto.

Someone in here wrote I think Joe Montana is best because I watched him play. I’m going with that. I like Joe Montana.

I too watched Joe Montana, he was the best at pulling out a win with only minutes, sometimes seconds to play. I don't take anything from his playing days, and he's certainly not the only one out making crummy commercials. Still, I'll stick by my statement, Joe is the best quarterback Wellcare has playing for them. Tom Selleck can shoot a hole in a reverse mortgage at 873 yards, and Joe Namath, well he can hit you with MCA from anywhere in your living room.

The guy had a beautiful wife, two kids, houses, etc., etc. and blows it all because he couldn't just stay retired the first time.
She was getting a little long in the tooth though, Tom will end up with someone half his age, and another little Tommy before it's all over. You don't often see rich guys marrying people OLDER than them! ;)

Had a good playing career. Definitely can be considered the greatest all time QB IMHO. The question now is will he be tolerable in the broadcast booth? It seems to be the opinion of the other broadcasters that he is headed their way.

I like most of the other former players that are the marquee color broadcasters. Romo is excellent. Aikman is decent. Olson is also good but I think that Brady is scheduled to replace him. Collingsworth is intolerable but I think he just retired. The marquee play-by-play announcers - that's another story. Nance is good. The Alberts and Gumbel are good, too. Harlan is a crack up sometimes. Can't stand Buck and Michaels. They are the worst and have irritated me for decades now.

I agree, Brady has to be better than Romo. That’s not saying much...
