    ¡Bueno!™

So I turned on daytime TV today (Bob Newhart Show!). Every break there is an ad from a company that will digitize your degrading photos...

Something tells me plenty of you have 100's of degrading photos in the attic or under the bed....

So rest easy! There's a company that will rescue them and make sure all your degrading photos are available for all your ancestors!

And all for the price of buying many scanners and doing it yourself!

I burned all my degrading photos years ago. Didn't want a record of bad me.

From the title I thought you found catalogs of solid state amps.

My ex-wife took all of those with her when she moved out, forty years ago.

I keep all of mine in rexel photo covers. Albums, just screw the quality up. I've got some pics of my ancestor's, also me mum, dad and bro. They're great to look at when I start to miss those guys.

Serious note.....are all your photos labeled? If not, your descendants will thank you if you do it now. My mother recently passed away, and she left several photo albums, chock full of pictures.....and very few are labeled and identified. No one's left to help say who is pictured. They're all now just "old" pictures. It's unfortunate.

oh man, I had a big box of videos that were shot when my kids were little, I sent them off... lobbed in some pictures and a zip disk... very very happy with the result!

we did the same with some movies of my mom... I cut the whole thing into a movie and everyone loved it...

Fortunately my parents labelled the lot, but there are a few gaps and guesses, but they are friends with family members, so not too bad. I've got a pic of my great aunt Gladys, along with her friend Winnie, then someone no one can remember. A few like that, but not many.

Man. That is as awesome as it gets.
I found myself lost in that.
It could have been footage if my own kin.

    And..
    Carefully..

If the featured shots of the woman is your mom, in all sincerity - that person has the presentation and poise to be a film star. Just "jumps right off the screen"

I was mesmerized. Dad may have had more skills than you think.
Good stuff there, and what you crated in your edit is a keepsake.

    Quite awesome IMO. :D

When my mom died eight years ago at age 87, and we went to clean out her house, I came across a double-sized shirt box filled to the brim with 35mm photos I took in the 1980s on my Minolta Maxxum -- and had completely forgotten about. I ended up taking the negatives to the Milpitas Walgreens drugstore who digitized them all as jpegs onto CDROMs. I can't tell you what an incredible rush it was both to see those images for the first time in decades, and then to be able to flip through them on my PC.

I’ve got close to 4,000 images stored. Some are ok and some are toast. Several internegs have faded into unidentifiable muck, contact sheets degraded to a mash of mixed colors, negatives that are faded and melted together, tons of B&W prints stuck together, but still there are multiple hundreds of mounted slides, mono & color pix, and a lot of things that are (or were 2 years ago) viewable

I have several Hi 8 videos of underwater St Croix, St Thomas, and Saba/St Kitts I’d like to get converted from a tape format to something on disc

I also have a song I wrote on a cassette that I’d like to see if I could possibly get salvaged.

Thanks man! lots of happy faces and people I'll not see again. My mom is just sunshine. people always like her and she is gracious and kind and still walking the mean streets of Balboa Island...

I have mentioned when we lived in Lake Tahoe and I dug seeing us with our cousins (from San Jose) coming to see us and sledding in our backyard (our actual backyard) before Tahoe was Tahoe. You can see Globins Pier... what scary fun we had playing out there.... in the sledding scenes I was the solo lad with the white hat... That sled was plenty fast as I recall....

how about being 10 walking around in Tijuana and having a blast... such a time of innocent fun...

OP title is click bait. I see no photos and, therefore, nothing degrading taking place. ;)

Cool video, GB. Some day I'll get that inspired. I inherited the old films and projector; I really need to get off my butt and find someone who can convert those to digital, and then I can do the editing.

Cool as he!!, GB. Didn't watch the whole thing, but I've got some 8mm converted to VHS converted to CD myself. Weddings, swinming pools, oceans, big cities, etc. Makes for a pretty good get together for those of us still around.

Thank your dad or whomever had the foresight.

Exactly! I went through all of my old family archived print photos and all of my “pre-iPhone” prints and scanned them all myself for preservation.

Though, I can see why someone would want to pay to have it done because it’s very time consuming to DIY. It was a labor of love for me, but I’m glad it’s finally done.
