    Hey there!
I'm looking at Blues Drivers to drive a Mesa Boogie Rectifier 25, just a bit more.
Are there boutique versions of the pedal out there? (Obviously, but they aren't advertised as such).

The BD-2 seems like a good option, but I can pay a bit more and I'm wondering if there are better alternatives.

    Thanks!

I’ll never understand this line of thinking: “hey, I really like this affordable, tried and true pedal. Is there a way I can pay more for the same thing?”

If you chose to play a Boss pedal ironically, then it counts a boutique. Maybe grow a long beard and get some horn rimmed glasses?

    This might help:

I’m a big fan of the Waza, personally, but it seems like the Super Phat Mod will do the same thing but true bypass. Do you want true bypass or a really good buffer (the Wazas have excellent quality buffers)?

I don’t know what, if anything, it’s derived from, but I prefer the J Rockett Blue Note over the Boss/Waza. More flexible EQ and no fizzy/crackly decay.

I was going to recommend the Joyo Ultimate OD.... but nevermind. It's only $20.00

The Keeley-modded Boss pedals are fantastic, better than clones/copies, and incredible value for money. Boss's designs are sometimes brilliant, as in this case, so looking elsewhere is pointless. You can get something different, but not something better. I have three old Keeley-modded Boss pedals from back when you could send in your own (in my case, vintage) pedal and they would do the mod, returning an utterly wonderful unit to you. Some of these are on eBay.

But strangely, the self loathing stays pretty constant throughout the journey.
