Hi Guys ,

I am using a good old Boss Me 5 floorprocessor in my opinion the most natural sounding programmable floor processor ever made

But unfortunately I have problems with the in and output sockets . Sometimes there is no sound and when I touch the input or output jack the sound comes back after some buzzing noise

I opened the thing but the sockets are in some kind of plastic housing and are stuck to the printboard I guess

Does anyone here know if this can be fixed by a good technician for a reasonable price ?

regards

Perhaps some contact cleaner/compressed air shot into the output jacks may help. DeOxit is a brand that comes to mind.

Thanks guys for the replies. On other forums some people also think that it is a solder issue. But I just bought another one second hand for a good price

If I bring it to a good technician it wil probably cost even more

The ME-5 is a great pedal board...Roland/Boss stocks parts for all of these older units.

1: As mentioned - clean the jacks with quality cleaner. Don't spray inside, just spray the tip of a plug and insert/remove a few times, repeat many times.
2: Probably should be #1. Try a different cable... make sure it's the ME-5 and not just a cable issue.
3: Resolder the jacks. This is a 15 minute job for a tech. If you can't do it yourself, it shouldn't cost more than $25 and would be worth it.
4: Order the jacks directly from Roland (will not cost much) and take them to a tech to replace if you can't do it yourself.

They are worth fixing... don't just toss it aside because of a jack problem.

Hi Codamedia,

I have another one now that is working well. The one with the bad inputs have not tossed aside and I will let a technician fix it in time

I am even thinking of getting a third one as a spare . I really want this apparatus to be at the center of my set up for a long time.

Anyway thanks for the advice man

Cheers
