I was wondering when they'd catch up. I bet it sounds good. They have always made pretty good stuff. I'm sure there'll be better, or there already is in a pedal. Argh! Why am I getting a red squiggly under there'll? That is a perfectly recognized contraction. I guess I'm sorry my vocabulary is greater than your software. Wonder how it compares to the Iridium. I really want one of those. You know how it is. You get a certain intuition that tells you, this gadget will do exactly what I want it to do. Yeah, it's like that with the Iridium. Also wondering how this Boss would compliment the direct out on my Ethos TLE pedal.

I saw someone mentioned the models might be from the Katana amps?

I ordered one after watching Anderton's demo. IDK if it'll replace my amp for gigs (because I'm not going to be bending over and changing amp models on the fly), but it's a great "open mic" pedal: I can get my sound, as well as have a clean and dirty at a stomp, AND IT RUNS ON A 9V.

Also, it could be fun at home just messing with all the models, without having to get an actual modeling amp.

I preordered one with Sweetwater. They estimate about a week before its in stock.
It should make for a very simple rig to play at work with headphones. Minimal equipment to carry.
And I can also run it thru a small clean amp if I want.
Also supposed to be easy to connect to a computer DAW with USB-C

Pretty impressive feature set for the price ... I mean, you get an FX loop, integrated reverb, you can load third party IRs and this things works as an USB audio interface ...
I don´t really need one at the moment, but that´s tempting even just as a backup

Hi.

This represents the ‘problem’ of digital technology for me.

Or more exactly, it represents the ‘current problem’ with digital technology.

The problem before this was the TC Electronic ones.

[edit: bollocks - someone on the train bumped me and I accidentally posted - onward below]

To continue, and the problem before that was the Boss IR-200, and before that the Iridium…

In other words, I’m always attracted to these things, but there’s always the risk of something either moderately better or significantly better just around the corner. Or, possibly significantly cheaper. So, I can’t commit.

Saw the Andertons video. Now I'm rethinking my entire rig. I just play at home, and more often than not, play amp-less because I don't want to disturb the family. While I have a great amp (hand-wired JTM 45 clone), it is way too loud at the dirty tones that I prefer. I'm thinking that playing an amp modeler through headphones might be the perfect solution.

I don't want to play through a computer, so this pedal and the Tonex are appealing. I love the simplicity of this one, but the infinite amp options of the Tonex is a big plus.

Have you considered then Positive Grid Spark? It delivers and should meet all your criteria. Tons of built in effects. Plus all the amp & cabinet modelling too. Sounds great at low volume. I practice my soloing in different keys and styles along with YT backing tracks. All on myncomputer desk. No headphones. Nobody is disturbed by my playing. Of course there is the headphone jack option as well.

I too was intrigued by the Boss IR200, yet I am unsure it’ll be a step-up from my Spark. I’d be giving up all the FX for sure. Its just gas that keeps me wanting new things. I’m learning (slowly) to appreciate what I have.

I haven't considered the Spark. I'll research it, but I thought that it was more dependent on being plugged into a PC or phone to work.

I've been researching the IR-2 and Tonex for the past couple of days. I am really liking the Tonex at the moment.

I was going to start a thread, but found this one...

I'm thinking about buying an IR-2, it is at a price where I won't feel too annoyed when it is superseded in 6mths buy something else.

However my hesitation is around how I'd like to use it... directly into the front of my amp which is a Rolland JC22 - ultra clean sound with killer reverb and chorus.
I'd like to use the pedal as a gain pedal with all the different sounds it seems like a good move in theory.

What's do you think?, will it work into the front (or perhaps the FX loop) of an clean amp?
I've not seen one demo on YT where this has been done.

Cheers
