How would you set up a Boss DD-3 for slapback delay?
I've compiled a veritable resource database for you, here
200 msec range, delay about halfway up, repeats at zero or a smidge above, mix to taste.
This is pretty close to how I set mine. For a true rockabilly slapback you only want a single repeat, IMO. That's why the repeat knob needs to be all the way down to zero.
Another good sound for country style echo is 200ms mode with all the other knobs at about 10 o'clock.
A very versatile setting is Level at noon, Feedback at 9 o'clock and time at noon. It works well on both the 50ms and the 200ms modes and you can quickly switch between two different sounds.
I would turn the knobs. Is there an app for that now or something?
By “a smidge above” I mean to soften the tail of the single repeat. Only one repeat should be audible. Anything more starts to sound reverb-ish.
Never mind. Let’s just stick with “repeats at zero”.
Mode on 200 ms, feedback at 9 o'clock, level and time both at 2 o'clock.
