According to their website - which I hope is a mistake - everything is about $200 higher. Anyone have any insight into that?

Edit: Please see the response below. Prices are not going up. Just temporary prices to ward off dummies like me from trying to place an order.

    Says right on the website

Hey Bootstrappers! We are filling orders as fast as we can! If you would like to cancel or edit your existing order, that is totally okay! You can do this through your order confirmation link. All existing orders should ship by Aug 4. We are currently not accepting new orders while we work to fulfill our backlog of orders (Our prices are very high right now to prevent new orders until we re-open)

Thank you for the very quick reply. Sorry for not reading the whole text. I see that now. I apologize for the question.

Sorry for the confusion there. We’re incredibly backordered at the moment so I wanted close the store for new orders while to giving folks the ability to edit or cancel their orders if needed. The app backend that allows them to do that requires both shopify payments and the webstore to be active, so the only way I could make that available is to make the prices super high to dissuade new orders.

We’re shipping a lot of orders each day and should have everything cleared out next week. Once every order has shipped we’ll be closed a bit longer so that we can wind inventory of our pickups sets and finally be done with these long lead times.

We’re also splitting our Skookum and Bootstrap brands a bit more so that we can use some higher quality parts in the Skookum stuff while maintaining the same product lines and prices we’ve always had for Bootstrap. It’s nothing major, there are just higher quality cover finishes, some more period correct plain enamel and formvar wires, better screws, even some really skookum wood covers that I’d like to offer. The sort of stuff that just adds $20 to the price and some folks like to have and I’m happy to offer. Both will be available on the site when we re-open.

Will burnt chrome still be available on non-skookum pickups?

Sure! The Skookum stuff is adding things we don’t typically do as standard options. Everything we used to offer under Bootstrap will still be there as Bootstrap. Our Skookum-90s are being renamed to avoid confusion because they’ll be part of the Bootstrap catalog, but upgrades like our really gorgeous wood covers would make them Skookum.

As an example, there are some made in USA t-style neck covers from Philadelphia Luthier Tools that I really like because the plating quality and fit and finish are outstanding, but they’re three times the price of our standard covers. We already occasionally use these when our primary supplier is backordered. Tonally, there should be no difference between the higher priced and lower priced covers as both are sourced from established, reliable companies and both are nickel-silver material with a polished chrome, nickel or gold plating. But aesthetically the PTLD covers are just a bit nicer.

The plan is for the Bootstrap stuff to be ready to ship or almost ready to ship when an order is placed (for typical order quantities), while the Skookum and custom stuff will be made to order with a longer lead time.

well, if the huge companies, the giant industries, and everything in between have problems with getting their raw materials, i would not understand when your price would not rise
we here in the Nederlands pay almost € 2 a liter unleaded fuel and a specialist mention t it can get to € 5.
oil is a base material for a lot of products, so if prices go up at the source, consumer prices will know it to
