FWIW, I just sent him this message on Facebook:

    Hi, Mr. Snopek.

I was wondering if you can help me determine something for an acquaintance.

He's trying to remember the name of a band he saw at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Mar. 27, 1970 (Good Friday), opening up for Argent, Savoy Brown, and Ten Years After. He saw the same band at the 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival...but he didn't catch the name of the band either time.

He describes a band with two keyboards book-ending the stage, one of which was dressed up to look like a pack of Marlboro or Winston cigarettes.

He also said that their name over the PA at the Atlanta Fest sounded like "Blues-something."

I did some Internet digging, and I think it's the Bloomsbury People that he saw.

Are you able to confirm this? It would be most appreciated if you could let me know whether or not that was your old band.

I appreciate the help, and I hope you are doing well.

Also, I just listened to a Bloomsbury People album, and I dug it!

    Thanks very much.

...and almost immediately got this reply:

Yea that was my band bloomsbury people
you can get a cd it remastered of cousre [sic]

    And then his phone number.

I've just asked him if he has any pix of the keyboard that looks like a pack of cigs. We'll see.

Update. He responded. "Yeah. Call me. I'll send you a pic this weekend."

Doesn't make a ton of sense for me to call him, but maybe Wabashslim should. Sounds like he'll send ya a picture, and maybe you can help him out by getting a CD.

Enjoyed this thread... Blues Image....I saw them in 1969 as the warm up band for an Iron Butterfly concert. They had just released their first album, which I bought after the concert and which I still have. I lost interest when I heard ‘Ride, Captain, Ride’ because that song was nothing like what I heard in concert or on the first album.

They did to Mark Farner what Henley & Frey did to Felder, only much worse. Google it, it's a sad story.

I have to note that that band’s name was simply Blues Image.
