All true but Song of the year is for songwriters, Bonnie won for writing it not for her performance. Record of the year is for performance.So as above it's a perennial bad award, but this year they have it right, truly something to be respected because at least she alone wrote the song.
Look I love Bonnie, have seen her live, will see her again later this year. But she didn't write either "Thing Called Love" or "Something to Talk About"* without which it's hard to imagine her current career.
Willie didn't write "Blue Eyes Cryin'" and Patsy didn't write "Crazy." Authorship by the performer doesn't make a song any better, and I notice that defense is usually absent from Taylor Swift discussions here.
