back then, you could fall in to this kind of thing without too much effort....

I remember seeing Skunk Baxter and Mike McDonald as a duo in a bar (fake ID) in Redondo Beach.

this would have been a pretty cool gig to witness.....

    Bonnie has really aged well.

I think her voice still sounds great.

    Freebo still sounds good too.

I downloaded this video and converted it to MP3 a while ago. Back when I used to have to drive to our factory regularly (about a 3 hour drive), I'd listen to it via a thumb drive.

Thanks for posting that. That's a song I always enjoy messing around with, and it was fun to hear them doing it in a really different way.

Love Love LOVE Bonnie Raitt! Finally got to see her live a couple years ago. After she sang "Angel From Montgomery," I turned to my wife and said "I can die happy now." Nobody plays slide like she does - and it goes so well with her voice.

John Prine has always been one of my favorite artists. Cried when covid got him. His music is so simple and yet so full of heart and downright truthful and entertaining all at once. Got to see him back in grad school days in Missoula on the same bill with Steve Goodman. Man, what a night!

Man, that's a REAL "relic" guitar Freebo has there. And he plays it like an old friend. Good stuff. Thanks for posting this - brought back great memories!

That is awesome. The first real concert I ever went to was Bonnie Raitt in Minneapolis. I lived in Winnipeg, so it was a bit of a trip, but worth every mile.

Saw Bonnie in Orlando at a smallish club in '85. I think it was called Cheek to Cheek. Saw Gato Barbieri there a month later.
Bonnie was awesome. Played a newer lake placid blue Strat. Guess the naked one is too valuable to hit the road with. My table was 10 ft. from her. Maybe 200 people max. It was a good show.

Always loved that version. It suits her voice so well (or vise versa?). Haven't had the pleasure of seeing her live but I did get to see Lowell George with Little Feet.

    My damn! Year?

I once said to Ms. Nutz that we should see Bonnie again.

    “Again?! We’ve never seen her!”

“In my culture ‘again’ means for the first time!”

I'm so glad that performance was captured for those of us who weren't there. I've been lucky enough to see Bonnie several times over the years but I never did get to see Lowell George in person. Thanks for posting.

I don’t think we’re allowed to discuss those types of things here

Lowell came back a few months after that show with "just another band from Los Angeles" Little Feat. Also a great show and they talk about the the show that the OP put up and picking John Hammond up off the floor. Wonderful shows and you can download good, lossless (https://archive.org/details/lf1973-04-10.fm.plaz.119794.sbeok.flac16, for the latter show) files. My fav is the Feat doing On Your Way Down (from Allen Toussaint). https://archive.org/details/lf1973-04-10.fm.plaz.119794.sbeok.flac16/lf1973-04-10s1t05.flac

Back in the early 70s I was working for a music store and dropped off a B3 for Little Feat. Oh yeah I stayed for the show.

Also on the show… Bonnie Raitt and War.

COVID has taken so much from the world, not the least of which was John Prine. Yeah, his health was waning but to lose him like that was a damn shame.

I've been lucky enough to see Bonnie Raitt several times over the years in a number of venues from small auditoriums to large outdoor meadows in the VT mountains. Saw her and Freebo in 1988 in Lake Placid NY as a duo in an Olympic ice rink. It was a pretty early date with my wife, and I sort of blurted out "Love you" on the way home. We celebrate our 32rd wedding anniversary next week so I guess it has worked out ok.

What is the deal with the 2 capos on Freebo's D-28?

    Man, thanks for posting this!!

About a month before (IIRC) that Ultrasonic Studios performance I got to see Bonnie and Freebo open for Lowell and The Feat at a small nightclub in Pittsburgh. Best concert I've ever seen. I've always wished that someone would have recorded that performance, but recording technology at the time wasn't as ubiquitous or of the quality we take for granted today. This recording of their performance at Ultrasonic Studios is pretty much the same set list they did in Pittsburgh. That link is like a time machine to paradise for me!! Thanks again for posting it!!!

Around the same time the two of them with John Hammond did a radio show concert and it was recorded. It was released on CD a few years ago. Awesome stuff.
