Hello all, I’m experimenting with an amp, and after the first triode I put the volume, theN leading into the Bone Ray tone controls. My question is if the volume was after instead, would it make a difference? Is it supposed to be that way? Thanks, -Drew.

PS. The Bone Ray stack is a mid control with a Tilt or frequency range shift. It was in a book, and I don’t want to post his work without permission. Merlin Blencowe

A search brings the circuit to the screen, so if Mr. Blencowe is concerned about that sort of revelation he is slow to act.

of course, this link shows us just the tone stack and not it’s placement in the circuit. Do you have his book? If so, what does he say about your question?

There's an app for iOS and Android "Tone Stack Kit" which includes a simulation of the Bone Ray.

Using it, you can explore what will happen with different input and output impedance loadings on the tone stack to see what the differences are.

I used the Bone Ray in a mini tube preamp - lots of great sounds to be found with it!

EDIT - having problems dl'ing the android app, maybe it's no longer available.

Thank you all for the input. I’m leaving it the way it is.
