Apologies for spamming the forum, I've gone from hardly posting to posting three threads in the space of less than a week!

Anyway - when I was tinkering with my new 50s Road Worn Tele, I noticed a body stamp that's located underneath the pickguard:

Does anyone have any idea what SEAGRAV6 refers to?? I've tried furiously googling around but I've found nothing so far.

The only thing I can think of is that Fender decided it needs to stamp Road Worn bodies to make sure they're identifiable as Road Worn bodies and not true vintage bodies, just in case anyone decides to try and defraud someone down the line at some point...

But why SEAGRAV6?? And why not something like RDWORN?

Anyone else got a similar/the same marking?

    Kinda cool.

I think "AquaMan's underwear' would have been so much better though.

Ahhh - think you may be onto something... I'm completely ignorant to different types of lacquer, but that would make some sense.

There goes my theory that someone in the Ensenada factory was setting me a riddle :p

Maybe the R, O, A, D, W, R, and N stamps are getting worn out, so they’re just using the other ones from the set?

I don’t know but I wouldn’t go near the water anytime soon

    It’s an omen “sea grave”!

Or they got confused and meant to write their favorite drink “Seagrams 7” or they were drinking it, that would explain it

It's from the little known government program started in the sixties, just recently declassified. SEAGRAV6 was a small orbital platform with an atmosphere that simulated the pressure of water, and an anti-grav system that has been kept classified. One of their experiments was to paint a small number of guitar bodies (provided by Leo Fender (head of Fender Musical Instruments, as well as a former OSS agent during the war). The reason for this experiment is unknown, as are the results.

That's what I was afraid of... explains why it's such a light guitar.

See, now that's the kind of stamp I'd expect to see! Will be interested to see if any other Road Worn Tele owners have different body stamps.

Maybe we can set up a Road Worn Tele Scrabble game or something

As chance would have it, I'm expecting delivery of a Vintera Road Worn '50s Tele in LPB early next week! So I'll be sure to post back here once I get mine undressed.

Time to fire off an email to Fender customer support. Get to the bottom of this conundrum.
Love the LPB by the way:)

Welcome to the SEAGRAV6 club! Assuming it’s an exclusive club of 6 from the name.

Also happy NGD! Quite a lovely collection of Road Worn Teles you have there!
