Hey guys, admittedly I'm a bit of a novice with vintage fender so I could use some help. I got this tele body at an estate sale from a guy who roadied pretty heavily in the 60s-80's, and lived about 5 miles from the original fender workshop. There was a table of maybe 8 bodies and 12 necks sitting in the rain so it was essentially a crap shoot parts table. I grabbed the best looking body and neck that hadn't been damaged . The neck I know is 80s, the body I'm having trouble with. The only clue I have is someone who used to work at the custom shop in the early 2000s said it looked like a 60's but he didn't know vintage stamps that well. Can anyone help out with dating and what some of the stamps mean?

I'd say not a 60's Fender body, because all the markings and stamps seem wildly off to me at least.

EDIT: Added "Fender"

Well checking the neck slot again that is NOT a 60's Fender body, am pretty certain of that.

"JC" are inspection initials
"SOL COL" indicates the body was intended to receive a solid colour finish.

I'm under the impression that these are Corona era characteristics.

I just realized there’s something funny with the neck

It doesn’t appear to be an old fender either, it’s got the dots are too wide and 22 frets

I know you didn’t ask about the neck but I would not assume that it’s fender

I’d be curious to see more pictures of it

That's the only thing I'm sure of haha. Those markings are visible, It's an 83 neck. The guy I spoke to said that during 82 and 83 fender let some 22 fret necks out into the market to test the reception which led to their 87 models having 22. I don't have any good pictures at the moment though.
