Bob Dylan tonight

So i get to the concert to my nosebleed seat, great venue…all seats are actually pretty good.….anyway i get to my seat and there is a guy sitting in it. So we talk to the usher and the check out his ticket first so he gets the seat…..then they take my info and yes there was a double book…sooooo they go back to the office, come a few minutes earler and he says follow me….takes to the orchestra section 10 rows back smack dab in the middle with three empty seats…i sit in the middle one with an empty seat on each side!….so it was MY turn to have a “ how cool is this “ moment. Oh and one other thing guess what i saw on stage chest high?…..ipads….! Horrors..

That worked out great. Back in the olden days, we waited in line for the Grateful Dead at Cal Expo. It was all general admission. We got great seats, Phil side, first row of the bleachers. A few minutes before showtime, a venue employee walked up and demanded that we surrender our seats to a blind guy and his companion. This was not a handicapped seating section. I pointed out that the guy was blind, he could sit anywhere in the whole place regardless of the view. The venue employee did not agree with my logic.

Luckily. the people in back of us squeezed together and let us use their row. The blind guy spent the rest of the show smoking weed (pre-legal days) without realizing he was in full view of security and the cops. Not that I mind that, just saying.

Glad you got something special. You must deserve it. Saw Bob in 2019 and it was great. He's a little slower and not so clear on the voice but still worth every penny.

Gotta serve somebody was the best that I recognized. Mostly new stuff no early stuff...loved.it.

Cool story. Bob Dylan was the first 'rock concert' I ever went to. Happened to see the Band for free.

A similar thing happened to me when I went to see David Bowie. I got to town on Sunday, called a friend on a whim, went to the theatre to exchange my one ticket for two together, and the woman paused. "Well, I guess you can have these two. The Globe hasn't picked them up, so I guess they're not going to review this show." Literally front row, center.

I saw Bob Dylan in my hometown in 2017. Honestly, one of the worst shows in my experience. He had zero engagement with the crowd, didn't say anything at all in between songs or even after the show. It really felt like he didn't want to be there. Couldn't understand any of his vocals either. There was just no energy

I've seen some other artists in the past few years around that age - Paul McCartney and Neil Young to name a couple - and they had a real excitement and energy in their shows.

Nonetheless I'm still very thankful I was graced the opportunity to see Dylan live in concert. He's still a legend in my book, and I'm happy I can say I saw Bob Dylan. Those are the kind of things I'd like to tell my future grandkids one day

The Dylan concert in 1980, in Toronto, was the best concert I’ve ever been to. I’m not sure I want to go now.

Saw Rolling Thunder Review in Niagara Falls. Great show; Bob comes to sing what he wrote, not play grab ass with the audience. You want talking? Go see Arlo Guthrie (I think he's quit touring...)

I have seen Bob twice in concert
-show starts on time
-using a phone/camera will get you escorted out
1st time was around 2000 and he played guitar most of the night. 2nd time was a few years ago and he played a few songs on guitar and then went to piano and was in a Little Richard mood on keys, it was great.

I saw Bob Dylan on the 2007 tour and enjoyed it.

Not a concert but one time I went on holiday to Cyprus with my mum and gran and the hotel was doublebooked and people were getting angry and literally telling staff that they had worked in the business for decades, had some serious contacts and that they were going to have them fired. We observed this and after awhile I went up to a stressed desk staff who was expecting more grief but I instead asked if there was anywhere I could get cups of tea for me and my family. The guy smiled and told us to wait a minute, we were told where to go for tea and when the dust settled the complainers were moved to other hotels and we were upgraded without charge to quite possibly one of their suites.

I've seen Dylan five times in the past 20 years (but not previously). The shows were quite variable.

The first time he was touring with the current version of the Dead, and the vocals were pretty much unintelligible. The Musical Heroine award goes to Joan Osborne for singing harmony on a song or two. The band included Larry Campbell and Charley Sexton (I think), and they were quite good.

The other shows he was more with it and sang much more clearly - talked a bit and introduced the band, even said, "Thanks, friends!" He gradually switched off guitar to keyboards over the years. But what the audience responded to best was his harp solos, which seemed more focused than in days of yore.

@ce24 - Awesome upgrade. There's a big difference in a show from the front end vs. at a distance. Not that I haven't enjoyed some at a distance, but up close and personal is always a tasty treat.

I've seen Dylan four times. The first in Corvallis in the 90's I believe, was the best. He didn't say a word to the audience but let his war protest songs do all the talking. Quite powerful.

The 2nd and 3rd show were good and he said a few things to the crowd and seemed to be having fun.

...the last show I saw of his was outdoors in Eugene. Terrible, I must say, and Dylan is my all-time favorite. He didn't "sing what he wrote" in that case, and did almost all old 30's and 40's crooner tunes and never picked up the guitar. I think the best song that evening, and one of the few, was..."She has everything she needs, she's an artist, she don't look bad." (Whatever it's called.) I like that one, but that was pretty much it.

But I still love Bob. I forgive him. Whatever he needs to do to keep it fresh for him. I haven't heard his new album yet, but heard it's good...
