My big lummox arse has dropped our Bose Revolve sound link speaker one too many times and now it sounds like pie tins rattling in the breeze trying to keep crows away.

So, I’ve got to get one or two more so my wife doesn’t scalp me since she bought the Bose.

    Any rugged recommendations ?

Funny, I was just in Walmart thinking the same thing. That I have a big lummox arse. AND I’d like to get a Bluetooth speaker. My only recommendation is don’t shop for one in Walmart. I’ll watch this thread. The cognoscenti will show up soon.

I'm happy with my JBL Charge 4. You can pair then if you have multiples. Sounds as good or better than my Bose Soundtouch 20.

Like so many here I was raised on stereo 33.3rpm media and love good quality stereo so I've not been able to completely embrace the single speaker thing. I've got a Bose radio that's OK and I use it like a portable radio and drag it around the house and yard when I'm working but frankly I just find the Bose sound to be a cheap imitation of a real transmission line speaker/cabinet.

My wife asked for a wireless speaker for her Birthday and after much research and listening I bought a small Sonos One. I think the whole Sonos line outshines the Bose product in sound quality. Just more balance and realistic sound without the over emphasized muddy bass.

Edit: I believe the latest models include Bluetooth while the older models are just WiFi.

I love my Bose Soundlink Mini! They are on Amazon for 136 clams. Good bang for the buck.

I've had an Ultimate Ears Boom for a few years and it's been great. It fell off a step ladder and it's still going strong. It dropped about five feet and landed on a cement floor. It's sounds good, and it sounds much bigger than it is. It's rugged, and it's water resistant, too. The new equivalent is the UE Boom 3, but they also have a few models above that now.

When I bought it, I went to Best Buy and listened to a bunch of different speakers they had on display. This one sounded the best to me, even compared to others that were much more expensive. My budget was $300, but this one was only $100, and I liked it better than all the others. I highly recommend checking one out.

^^^I've got a couple of these.^^^ No problems and they seem to be pretty rugged. You can also daisy chain multiple units. Made by Logitech.

I bought one of these when I was trying to find decent sound without spending real money. It's pretty good. Not a Bose, obviously, but I don't listen to it in rooms with good acoustics, either. Single speaker boggles my mind--why would people buy those?

Can you use two of them for true stereo separation? Can the Bluetooth send the right signal to one speaker unit and the left signal to another one across the room?

I recently picked up a UE Boom 2 at Best Buy for 69 bucks. I'm happy with it and it appears to be very durable.

cambridge soundworks bluetooth speakers are very good value for money. all of their models are well under your budget. they have good warranty support. most of them are waterproof or splash proof.

2 or more units can be connected wirelessly for use as left and right stereo speakers. individually, they have stereo speakers and a passive woofer.

Our Soundlink Mini II has lasted long and sounds very nice compared to many. It also sounds big against other same size units. Bose even had a firmware update and battery replacement option. I wouldn't hesitate to get another if it died because it's been good in many ways.

I have an LG PK-5 that's made to take a dive or two without damage.

I don't really like it though and don't recommend it.

I got it cheap and it works so I'll keep it until it quits, but I wont buy another one.

We have one in a closet. Sounded great and then a channel went out in it. Don’t notice it much on modern tunes but older stuff ? It’s now unusable for that.

I've got the UE Boom 3. I like it, does the job. I haven't compared the sound against more expensive products.
