Two Blues JR, both new both tweed. One has a grill over the tubes and has a high serial #. The other does not have the grill and is a low serial #. Both made in Mexico. Both have the same speaker. Whats the difference. 750-BluesJrLT_detail6.jpg wc1vovk9nq2ypq4tw8vf.png

No both are new and never sold. Both made in 2019. No limited edition badge. One with the low serial # and one with the high # is confusing.

It looks like the second one is lacquered. And there are no screw to hold the grill, so the grill was not removed... Thick leather handle.

    No idea Why.

Is one a III and one a IV? They updated the model not so long ago.

Edit: nope, unless they revised it again, which isn’t impossible. Losing the cage would be cost saving...

Mine has the thick handle and cage. Also it’s lacquered. The reverb tank on mine is black as well. Who knows.

Thanks guys. Its not that important. I was just curious. Maybe one was made on Monday and the other Friday. Funny, they are both this years production.

I would guess that fender ran out of tube cages, quit drilling the back cabinet to accommodate the cage, and went on with production. I can't imagine that those amps are different in any other way

I think that all the sellers have their own version. Guitar Center, Sam Ash and Sweetwater get their own version of this amp. Maybe.

Fender like all companies adjusts lines and makes running changes. To save 50c or a dollar in parts when you make thousands of items is big bucks. Someone probably figured out if they're not export to EU they don't need the cage - we save 50c on labour and 75c in parts not fitting it. Plus the tubes are still protected by the back panel.

One might be a FSR limited run for a chain store or overflow from that order and it was specified that way, like they make specials with coloured headstocks and different colours.

I'd say that they are different from each other.

    It's a mystery.
If I spoke Spanish I'd call down to the factory and ask.

I have the one with the cage. It was made in Oct. 2019. It came from Sam Ash. Serial # is B-794371. The other ones are new as well. The serial # starts with 18.....

Alright we would be chasing our tail to get to the bottom of this. Fender has made so many versions of this amp they probably cant keep up with them. They have Blues Jrs, blues Jr NOS, blues Jr II, Blues Jr III, Blues Jr limited and Blues Jr IV. Some of these in tweed and some in Tolex and who knows what other coverings.

The reverb tanks look different. More than likely the same amp internally.

I had two of the early limited edition badged ones and the tanks were black on them, maybe the second one pictured is newer but still the same?
