Hi everybody, can you tell some nice blues solos played with the bottleneck in standard tuning? Live or studio recording. Id like to expand my slide lick vocabulary remaining in standard tuning. Thank you so much.

He uses a range of tunings, so you would need to check which is which.

True. But he does a lot in standard. I'll have to think about which ones.

I seem to have lost a post.

Duane Allman played standard tuning, but I don't know if it was exclusively.

Kirk Lorange is well worth a listen, I think he plays exclusively in drop D, which isn't far removed from standard.

One trick is to concentrate on the g D and B strings. A nice major triad.

I think Mr. Allman also used open D a good bit. Don't hold me to that, though.

Play the lick with your fingers...then practice nailing the lick with your slide.

Oh, and get acquainted with Mr. "Jack Pearson." :)

Pretty much anything Warren Haynes plays slide on is in standard tuning. His book on slide guitar is entirely standard tuning.
Also think I heard Gary Rossington say that most is slide work was standard as well because he didn't have time to re tune

I have the book and highly recommend it

Jason Isbell plays a lovely slide guitar in standard tuning, as does the other guitarist in his band, Sadler Vaden.

There's a web site, 12bar, with an intro to slide lesson, and it focuses on std tuning.

It has nice maps of the fret board, and basic examples.

Like A Rock by Bob Seger ?

Yeah , yeah - it's truck commercial but the two solos (in standard tuning) by Rick Vito are brilliant.

Arlen never uses standard tuning, only open E and open G, and even high-bass G, but never standard!

Duane mostly played slide in open E. Warren Haynes plays slide in standard.
