The Bass channel will be the 6G6-B. No tweaks or mods.

The Normal channel will be a customized plate-fed tonestack.

After playing with the Duncan Tonestack Calculator as well as using what I learned from previous builds, it will be like a blackface Fender circuit with more fat brown/blonde era tones (0.022uF tonestack caps, plus a mid boost resistor switch and a cathode gain boost switch — switches in the form of pull-switch Bass, Treble, and Volume pots).

The cathodes on both of the Normal channel’s triodes are tweaked a bit. Mainly for tightening up bass and slightly goosing up the gain in both stages.

Instead of a Presence control, the negative feedback will be fixed (like the mid-60s Bassman) and I will install a PPIMV in that spot on the panel.

The semester starts next week though, so I start teaching and may not be able to update this thread as often as I want to :(

    Man I'm watching.
I'm never sure if you amp guys or those music theory guys lose me faster, but I always enjoy watching.

Which channel of the 6G6B are you building? I am thinking the Normal(guitar) channel?

    Sorry, I should’ve been clearer.

    The Bass channel.

The 6G6-B’s Bass channel is actually the whole reason I want to build this. I need to hear it in person after hearing so many awesome clips :)

Just finished this the other day. My first time ever building something like that. Thought about picking up a pre made cab but I didn’t want the 1x12. Really happy with the way it turned out!! 62 blonde bassman FB5C6F34-02A2-44E9-96B3-17312D46C747.jpeg 12343CC5-B67B-4DAE-8AB2-723F1BF6BC7E.jpeg BD9CE024-E99E-4AA7-9A4D-03BAABEBF874.jpeg D349CB24-F9B5-4B9F-9B36-299937A4B280.jpeg

I think Archie would be a good name for this amp because a red-head (master volume knob) is being chased by a blonde (a “blonde Bassman” circuit) and a brunette (“brownface” Fender circuit). Just like in the comics.
