Ya at $450 it was the cheapest new Fender.

I guess they made it $500 so it would be the same price as the MIM std.

I've still seen 'em at $ 449 in the stores.

Go take a look now if you're interested.

If you want one way cheaper including a gig bag, get in touch with Chuck Levin's.

    that's sad...

Squier beckons us all the more @ $350 or less, right! I mean CVs and VMs are just as good or better than MIMs in my experience (which is now quite extensive), and IMHO, I will add!

    +1

I own 2 CV's CV50's and CVC and Ive owned 15 MIM's all artist and Classic models the most expensive MIM's and for me the CV's are easily as good and have better fretwork.

Fender doesnt seem to realize when gas is $4 a gallon and it costs $80 to fill up people just dont have the extra cash to buy toys like they used to

I wonder how much of the original $450 that I paid for my Blacktop was fuel?

Ensenada to Milwaukee is 2255 miles. (I checked map-quest).

    $450 to $500 is a 10% increase.

Locally; a gallon of milk has gone from $2.85 to $3.70 based mainly on the cost of transportation and $2.85 to $3,70 = a 23% increase.

I live in Wisconsin and we drink Wisconsin milk.

    It all makes me wonder.

This where the extra cash went: 2011 first quarter profits results: Exxon +53% ($7.5 billion, up almost $2 billion from 2010), Chevron (+72%) and Conoco (+46%).

That's enough to buy a lot of nice gear ?

On the contrary, I think the CV and Blacktop lines show they do understand. You really get a lot for relatively little money. I think they've done a great job adjusting to the times.

We are entering a period of very high inflation. Its not just Fender and milk that are raising prices, its going to be everywhere, everything. This always happens when money supplies are tripled.

My friend loves his Blacktop. There are no CV guitars yet with dual humbuckers.

I got my black telecaster blacktop JUST after the price increase in Edmonton, AB, at Axe Music. I was eyeing it for 3 weeks and saving up, but was smart and took a pic of the tag. Turns out I got it for (I think) $458 like they originally had on the sticker, instead of the $480-ish they wanted post-increase. TIME TO MOD IT! black pearloid pickguard, here I come!
