Haven't read much about the Blackstone Appliances overdrive here. Mine arrived in the mail yesterday, spent some time last night and this evening, and my initial impression is very favorable.

Plugged my Lollar-loaded tele into my Rivera Venus 1x12 with blackface pot pulled, set almost clean. What impressed me most was the lack of artificial artifacts in the decay (something that REALLY turns me off, overdrives that mess with my guitar and amps natural tone). The Blackstone sounded more natural, and more responsive to the guitar's volume knob, than just about any other overdrive I've owned. Being able to set my drive and level right where I want and knowing that they won't get altered, due to the lack of actual knobs (you need a fingernail or guitar pic to turn the dials) is a really nice feature.

I had recently given up on overdrives altogether but figured I'd give it one more shot after reading so many positive reviews in respectable magazines over the years, all claiming that the Blackstone stood out from the crowd. Glad I took one more chance on an overdrive pedal!

I've never tried one myself, but I've never really heard anything but great things about them

Congrats and enjoy!

Congratulations Steam-powered! I read the appearance of this pedal is often referred to as steampunk. Whatever it's called, it's looks reminds me of old trains and future spaceships, and if the two had an indestructible guitar pedal offspring.

The BAMO is by far my favorite pedal. I use the brown channel set low, all the time, and now consider it essential to 'my tone'. Enjoy!

I'm going to use it for a new song I'm planning to start recording this weekend, will try to post a clip if things go as planned. Nothing fancy, these days I only record for enjoyment and to save ideas on a Tascam digital 8-track. Sounds heads and tails better than the Tascam 4-track I've been using since 1990.

I've loved mine for years, even before meeting Jon in person and discovering that he's not only a talented inventor, he's also a really nice guy. Enjoy it!

I've enjoyed one for years as well. Great overdrive. Works well feeding into other drives as well. I use it before a wampler ecstasy quite often for a grittier tone than the ecstasy alone.

I've been eyeing one of these, myself. However, based on my signal chain I'd have to put it after a Fuzz, wah, whammy, and comp and I've read that they like to see your guitar's pickups (like a fuzz). Have any of you BAMO users ever placed a bunch of other stuff in front of it with success.

Inside the pedal is a switch for "reactive" or "buffered" mode. If putting fuzz, wah, other pedals before the Blackstone, one would want use the buffered mode according to the manual.

I've not really heard any clips of this that did much for me. But clips are just clips.

Anyone know of any that are really a pretty good representation of what the BAMO sounds like?

I used one on my main board for a couple years. Very underrated and cleans up impressively with volume knob.

That said, it got 'kicked' off by a Tim. The Blackstone was just too bright for me. Very hard to dial in on stage as well.

I used it all over this record:
http://householdtales.bandcamp.com/album/threshold-shift

Track 1: brown channel, archtop, P90
Track 2: brown channel, Tele, Strat neck pickup w SD Little '59
Track 3: red channel, Tele, SD Little '59
Track 6 (lead): red channel, Tele, SD Little '59
Track 11 (4:53): brown channel, Tele, Strat neck pickup w SD Little '59
Track 11 (9:07): red channel red channel, Tele, SD Little '59

Tracks 2 & 6 used an old Gibson amp. The rest were a blackface Deluxe Reverb w/ a Celestion Gold.
