I just thought of something: Maple is like cement pavement and Rosewood is like Asphalt. When the heavens open and the rain falls hard, water pools on the cement just as sweat pools on a maple board. In contrast at least some of the cloudburst melts away when it falls on the asphalt and this is why our fingers slip less on rosewood when playing outdoors in stupid hot/humid conditions.

I prefer the feel of maple on my Fenders, but if we're talking purely cosmetic here I think rosewood usually looks better on dark guitars in general. I just bought a sunburst strat with a rosewood board, and the board decision was purely because I thought it looked better than the maple.

Even though I’m a Wilko Jonson fan, I’ve got to go with maple fretboard on a black Tele or Strat. Maybe it’s the contrast than makes it seem cooler, maybe it’s the history, but definitely maple fretboard with either a white or black pickguard…

Tasty! What did you throw in for pickups if I can be rude and take a slight detour with the thread.
I frankly don't know what they are. I was approached by a friend putting together a Pink Floyd tribute band and he wanted me to assemble a "black strat' inspired by David Gilmore's. Not necessarily a clone but close in both appearance and voice. He bought the parts and had me assemble them. The loaded pickguard was custom assembled by 920D, I just screwed it in place. To my ears it sounds right.
