Hi all, I’m thinking about buying the American original 60s Tele in 3tsb but am not sure about the white pick guard along with the white binding. I’m thinking of swapping out the white for a black pickguard. Wondering how it would look, and would it still be period correct? Any advice and thought are greatly appreciated!

Imho, it would be ‘period correct’ only under two conditions. 1) My wife had some sort of concern as to how my guitar looked, and 2) she was in her period and wanted the guitar to have a black guard!!! Eeeehaw....

On page 40 of Duchossoir’s book, there is a picture of an unadulterated 3tsb tele with white binding and a white pick guard. It looks good to me...and is correct. What you want might be something different, but to an old intake type guy’s eyes it would not look correct.
If I had a white tele with black binding, I might want a black pick guard. Ommv....

Try it ... It's a cheap reversible mod ... If you like it, that's what matters ...

I say go for it. Just save the old guard in case you ever sell it.

Tort is more accurate or not. Checked that would be jazzmasters and other offsets.
