100% subjective here: I find black guitars with white pickguards, especially Strats and Teles to be frightfully
boring to look at. A black pickguard would remedy that at least a little bit.

I'm more of a "vibrant color kinda guy" myself so you'd probably do better heeding the advice of those who
are fond of black musical instruments(like my dad was).

Anyway, that's my 2c.

Why not chrome?
That was a consideration when building the guitar, I may revisit the idea.
I was originally looking for a silver plastic pickguard that looks like the one on my Gretsch. I think they are clear and painted on the underside. Couldn't really find one tho

Yeah, I know the white pickguard is the traditional "tuxedo" look for a Custom, and its a good look, but its so common. Not sure tort is what I want, and I don't think mint would look right either, I dislike pearloid altogether, so not a whole lot of options left

Gold and Chrome have been suggested in the replies also. Both go very well with black.

Your neck pickup’s screwed into the body, man. Go crazy and play dress-up as you see fit.

I'm anal, so I like the matching aspect of the white pickguard. It extends/reinforces the "theme" of the fretboard dots. It would be perfect if there was some element of white or black, or both, on the headstock, also- makes the entire guitar finish more visually unified, you know, like the whole thing is a single unit.

It's a little hard to tell from my pics, but it is a double bound body. The wite pickguard kinda goes nice with the binding, but I also like the white bevel on the black one too.
