Filed under "somebody had to do it..." like the Silver Sky purchase, I just had to pull the trigger on the new Ultra series in Texas Tea. Keith from @fivewattworld would be proud - I unloaded three guitars to add only one :)

I think my motivation is pure:
    1. Playability - I loved my Nocaster reissue with the baseball bat neck, but frankly I just run out of steam playing up the neck. I have to face facts when it comes to age and stamina.
    2. Playability - The compound radius from 10 to 14 inches is, in a word, terrific.
    3. Sound/Tone - Have you heard the series/parallel sound? Works for me.
    4. Sound/Tone - For me, these pups have all of the Tele twang goodness and by gosh, they're actually, really, quiet. Perfect? Nope. But miles - miles - better.
    5. Looks - Oh man, this Texas Tea. To paraphrase a certain British Captain, I want my truck to be this color!
Couple of pics, I know that the InterGoogle is full of them right now but I tried to catch the light the right way for the TT finish. Onward and onward!

That is a beauty! I have a Deluxe from around 2006. It is a very nice guitar, but those noiseless pups back then were dull sounding. So I did a mod, put something traditional in the bridge and a bucker in the neck. I also liked the S-1 switch, by the way. Not sure why it is not more widely available in Fender's lineup.

There were a lot of "social media" types that saw them and opined that there wasn't enough difference to get excited about over the Elites, but that wasn't really the point for me anyway. This thing rings all my bells.

Interesting. This time around there are two voicings for the pups. I picked the "vintage" version to keep the more traditional tone. I wonder if that was a lesson learned through experiences like yours.

So this whole "TSA-safe" travel case is a new thing for me. I have only ever had the traditional G&G's. How long have these been a thing?

They came out with the Elites (so early 2016). I have one and it is a nice case — very solid and good comfortable handle (especially compared to the G&G traditional handle!). My Tele has flown in it with no ill-effects at all.

This (the TDPRI) is my only social media.
The TDPRI is where I learn about new artists, music and gear.
    It (really) works for me.
    Today’s my tenth “anniversary” here!

Very nice — I look forward to seeing one in real life. This hard-to-photograph finishes can be a very pleasant surprise when you get to eyeball them!

Since I have an Elite in Mystic Black already it’s not likely I’ll be buying an Ultra in the near future but based on my experience with the Elite the Ultras will be really nice guitars. It’s just a shame that over here “Ultra” means “football (soccer) hooligan”...

Thanks! I thought it was very interesting (and reassuring) that this case has a locking system that lets the TSA get inside without needed your key.

Good on ya, mate. I appreciate your point. BTW I can't imagine having as many posts as you do here, not even if if I were to total up everything I've ever posted everywhere. Wow! I know the music is the point, but that's still pretty impressive.
