All I see is some poor, bleary-eyed bears on their way home after a 24-hour shift stacking shelves.

I don't see bleary eyes I see zombie starey eyes. Just what we need, first Christmas elves, now zombie Christmas bears.

Completely agree on the Black Friday".... I've never understood the desire to waste my holiday weekend standing in a line all night to get a little bit off of a TV that I don't need anyway. I just don't understand the mentality.
Given that I don't live in the same state as my family anymore, when I do get back, I go ahead and spend the time with them.

Just do your shopping for big items in the slack sales times of the year. With a bit of haggling retailers will often drop their price way down just to shift stock, often they will go below the "special sale" days price.

Here in Finland, this Friday as black as all Fridays between October and March. As all other weekdays are too, actually. Not a lot of sun. ;)

The US Black Friday sale thing hasn't really caught on here, even if there are a few shops that are trying for the first time this year.

    Saw this posted elsewhere:

"If you are not content today, there is nothing you can buy this weekend that will change that"

    Sounds about right, I'd say

And I might add those were a crazy fun little axe for the price, I still enjoy playing mine a lot. The locking tuners alone were just about worth the ticket price.

I'll avoid Black Friday like the plague this year and enjoy all the gear I've got.

yep. Still loving my Charvel. Best neck I've ever played, although I'm not overly crazy about the frets. Still though that thing was a homerun and a half

Why are retailer's actions, advertising, and business practices treated differently under the law than Inciting To Riot?

Oh yeah! Well lemme show you what I got for showing up early at Three Way Cadillac. They gave me this for being the first one in line this morning. I tried to get one for Toto too, but they said nothin' doin' ONE to a customer.

With several big box store managers in the family & others in retail, the moving Black Friday to Thursday pretty much ended Thanksgiving in my extended family the past few years. Thanksgiving used to be the best holiday... no presents, just get most of the family getting together at least once a year to sit down for dinner and catch up. Oh well.

I just went over and cooked Thanksgiving dinner for my 91 year-old Mom yesterday, but that was nice anyway, and I have LOTS of great leftovers :D

It's of course ironic, since being thankful would seemingly imply some level of contentment, and we celebrate that day with a mass gorging, to be followed the next day by a (now-traditionalised) mass gorging of consumerism, in the sense of buying
