Im probably late to the party but good news!!
It’s just Chris and Rich. And a bunch of hired hands. Not really the Crowes. IMO.
The Robinson Bros. made a lot of enemies. Chris drove everybody out. Love the Crowes but I'll reserve judgement on the new band.
I know Chris did but did Rich as well?
I'm going to either Vegas or Phoenix show. Ya!
I’m sure the band and shows will be great. Calling it the Crowes is maybe a bit of a stretch when oodles of former band mates are still active and making music. Then again, given the constant churn of personnel? I dunno. Rich is/was working with Marc and Sven. They weren’t good enough? No, they didn’t play on Shake, but I m sure they’ve played many of those songs many, many times.
To me it’s not really the Crowes given the former members available. But, doesn’t mean it will be bad.
Mad Kiwi, Steve Gorman blames Chris with pushing the issue of getting 75% of the revenue, but I did say the Robinson Bros. Both are hard to work with.
I heard the album will be titled "Black Crowes version II, the Quest for more Money."
I've never have been a fan of Chris's until this interview with Howard Stern. Even his past appearances on the show have left me with a bad taste in my mouth. But not this time. He sounded good and very likable and you could hear the vast musical knowledge he has. He even dropped a little Dead/Pigpen/Hard To Handle shout out which was cool. He said the demand for more money was not about getting the actual money but was more of a way to force a breakup because he knew Rich would never go for it. In the end, I could not care less about the Black Crowes.
They sounded great on Howard Stern show, if they come near NJ, I’m there.
Also loved the tele Rich Robinson played on the electric songs, Makawber esque
Given their history, they should avoid holding after concert parties at Waffle House or Popeyes
So, the two brothers are getting together, despite their personal issues, but without any other former band members and are calling it The Black Crows? If that's the case it's about money...money and power...
When it comes to brotherhood, these two are the American Oasis.
Whatever one might think of the state of affairs, this here band sounds great on Howard Stern's show.
They toured with Oasis one summer, and the Gallagher brothers even thought they were crazy. They are professional loonies, but super talented musicians. There is definitely a crazy/talented bell curve for artists, the Robinsons are dwelling in the upper echelon of that curve. Highly crazy, highly talented.
There is a video on YT of an Oasis show where the brothers had a huge fight in the middle of a set. One of them storms off the stage leaving the other brother to continue the concert with the rest of the band. The brother that stormed off goes up to the bar overlooking the stage and starts to heckle the band. Beautifully crazy.
And it sounds great dirty.
That's my kind of rock n roll! They are a part of my life. Thank goodness some Southern boys took up the mantle. I rather enjoy the white trash persona. The redneck mentality can be complicated. I totally dig their music.
I loved that first album. And 1 song off the next. And thennnnnn... nada. So they might as well died in a plane crash or drug OD, because they flamed out for me.
And the fact that the bros are epic d-bags to the other musicians, REALLY rubs me the wrong way.
nice to hear those songs live again, but it's just a cover band with CR singing.
And Rich... LUCKIEST SOB ever. The worst 'rockstar' of ALL time. Mediocre picker and NO stage presence. "but he wrote the songs.." well stay your ass home and write homey. You have NO business on a stage.
