hi... My 51 nocaster birdseye neck has what appears to be a high gloss finish (looks lightly tinted)but an email from fender says tinted satin from the serial number... What's the usual finish on these..?
    It's a 2000 y model

    Thanks... Cliff

Looks like for your guitar, in the second series of Nocaster, made in Corona, the finish was nitro.

I have one from that era also with a birdseye neck and the finish is satin/nitro.

Maybe someone polished the satin finish. I've done that on several necks; I really prefer a glossy finish.

It's gloss now, that's for sure. IMO, nicer than satin.

FCS used to also do glass finishes on some necks, which it what it looks like to me.
